‘Hopefully We’ve Turned the Page’ — Sophie Cunningham Reveals Fever Had 2-Hour Meeting After Caitlin Clark-Stephanie White Drama

Sophie Cunningham sheds light on the Fever's lengthy team meeting after Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White's viral spat.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will host Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night, hoping to put behind them the nightmare of a two-game West Coast road trip that saw Clark and Fever coach Stephanie White engage in a sideline spat that went viral on social media.

Days before the highly anticipated matchup with the Eastern Conference-leading Dream, the Fever have addressed the situation, holding a lengthy meeting to move past it as they seek to climb the standings.

Sophie Cunningham Discloses Long Indiana Fever Meeting Days After Caitlin Clark-Stephanie White Spat

Fever guard Sophie Cunningham served as a player insider on Tuesday, disclosing Indiana’s two-hour conversation aimed at easing tension and refocusing the team on winning.

“We had a team meeting, a long meeting, and so hopefully we’ve kind of turned the page,” Cunningham said. “I think we were in there an hour and a half, almost two hours, and we peeled back all of the layers. I think everyone’s on a good page right now and ready to work.”

The 29-year-old noted that what began as a coaches’ meeting became a full team discussion, long overdue after Clark and White’s sideline exchange was captured on video on Saturday and went viral online.

Clark has been a mixed bag on both sides of the court this season. Though she has had a solid offensive start, averaging 20.1 points and 8.1 assists, her field-goal percentage is only 39.3%, including 33.3% from 3-point range. She has also committed 4.6 turnovers per game and has been criticized for defensive miscues.

Thursday’s game against the Dream marks the start of the Fever’s quest to defend the Commissioner’s Cup title they won last season. The in-season tournament began on Monday, with Atlanta sending an early warning to Indiana on Tuesday by beating the Connecticut Sun 91-75 at Gateway Center Arena in College Park.

Rhyne Howard exploded for 36 points, including 8 3-pointers, and added 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals for the Dream, who improved to 6-2. Allisha Gray added 26 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal, while Angel Reese recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Jordin Canada chipped in with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 10 assists, and 4 steals for Atlanta, which used a 23-10 fourth-quarter surge to turn a 3-point lead into a 16-point advantage by the end of the game.

During the 2025 regular season, the Fever went 2-2 against the Dream. The two teams met again in the first round of the playoffs, where Indiana won 2-1.

Clark was ruled out for the rest of the 2025 season in September due to a right groin injury and a subsequent bone bruise in her left ankle. She will have a fresh start in her rivalry with Reese, who was traded by the Chicago Sky during the offseason for two first-round picks.
