‘I’m Loving My Life’ — Georgia Amoore Fires Back at Critics Days Before 2025 WNBA Draft

Despite doubts over her size, Georgia Amoore is projected as a first-round WNBA pick after starring at Virginia Tech and Kentucky.

As an undersized guard, Georgia Amoore constantly faces criticism from basketball fans. Some don’t believe she has the tools to succeed in the WNBA—even though she’s projected to be a first-round pick in this year’s draft. But does Amoore let the outside noise get to her?

How Does Georgia Amoore Fight the Outside Noise?

No matter what sport you play, there’s always going to be noise. Every pass, shot, or step on the court is up for debate. Athletes have to learn how to block that out and focus on what really matters: playing well, staying locked in, and winning games.

At 5’6″, Amoore has heard it all. Some fans and analysts don’t think her skills will translate to the pro level because of her size. But Amoore is staying locked in. Known as a floor general, she’s able to score in bunches and create looks for others with her passing—whether she has the ball or not.

Amoore addressed the doubters head-on in a recent interview, saying to Yahoo Sports, “People are always gonna talk. People are always going to say some things, and there’s gonna be days where you feel it. There’s gonna be days where you disagree.

“I love what I have. I love the experience I’ve had. … I’ve squeezed every single ounce of whatever orange juice was in that orange that has been my college career. So, you know, I take pride in that. I just take little wins every single day. So, if that’s what you have to do, then do it―because I’m loving my life right now.”

Where Is Georgia Amoore Predicted To Be Drafted?

Amoore made her name at Virginia Tech, where she played from 2020 to 2024 and averaged 16.3 points and 4.9 assists as a senior. Many expected her to enter the WNBA Draft after the season. But when Hokies head coach Kenny Brooks left for Kentucky, Amoore chose to follow him, using her final year of eligibility to play for the Wildcats.

At Kentucky, Amoore took her game up another level, averaging 19.6 points and 6.9 assists per game. She also led the entire SEC in minutes, playing 36.7 per night.

Now, Amoore is projected as a first-round pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Two teams to watch? The Connecticut Sun and Chicago Sky.

The Sun are looking to rebuild after a tough free-agency period, and they need players who can contribute right away. Amoore fits that mold. The Sky are also searching for help at point guard, especially with Chennedy Carter’s future in Chicago still unclear. For Sky fans, drafting Amoore could bring some much-needed stability to the position.

This year’s draft class is one of the strongest in recent memory, but Amoore’s name continues to stand out. And despite all the outside noise, she’s just focused on doing what she’s always done—prove people wrong.
