Who Are the Sun’s Highest-Paid Players? Connecticut’s Top 10 Biggest Salaries in 2025

The Connecticut Sun enters the 2025 WNBA season with a roster that blends experience, youth, and international talent. From top-paid veterans like Marina Mabrey to promising rookies like Leïla Lacan and Jacy Sheldon, the team features players at all stages of their careers.

    1) Marina Mabrey

Mabrey is the Sun’s highest-paid player in 2025, earning a protected salary of $210,000. It’s the final year of a three-year, $620,000 contract extension originally signed with the Chicago Sky before her mid-2024 trade to Connecticut.

Known as a tough scorer and playmaker, Mabrey averaged 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 16 regular-season games with the Sun in 2024. She stepped up in the playoffs, averaging 15.9 points per game, including a 27-point night against the Indiana Fever.

    2) Tina Charles

Tina Charles, who is earning $170,000 with the Sun this season, has an estimated net worth of $7 million. She’s also made big money playing overseas in Turkey, Poland, and China, and landed endorsement deals with Nike and Adidas. Off the court, Charles is known for her philanthropy. She’s donated much of her salary to her Hopey’s Heart Foundation, helped fund a school in Mali, and supported scholarships for girls in Africa.

    3) Diamond DeShields

Diamond DeShields has an estimated net worth of $1.6 million, built from her WNBA salaries and international play. She’s on a one-year, $115,000 deal with the Sun and has made about $754,698 in total WNBA earnings. Drafted third overall in 2018, she’s played for the Sky, Mercury, Wings, and now the Sun. Her resume includes a WNBA title in 2021, an All-Star nod, and an All-WNBA Second Team honor in 2019.

    4) Lindsay Allen

Lindsay Allen is on a two-year, $180,000 deal with the Sun and is earning $90,000 this season. Along with her WNBA career, she’s played overseas in Australia, Poland, and Turkey. While with Turkish club Botas SK, she averaged 15.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists.

    5) Yvonne Anderson

Yvonne Anderson signed a two-year, $170,000 contract with the Sun and is earning $85,000 in 2025. As a protected veteran, her deal is fully guaranteed.

    6) Olivia Nelson-Ododa

Olivia Nelson-Ododa is in the final year of a three-year rookie deal worth $199,170. She originally signed the contract with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2022 and joined the Sun in 2023. She’s set to become a restricted free agent in 2026 after making $80,823 in 2025.

    7) Haley Peters

Haley Peters is on a one-year training camp contract with the Sun worth $78,831. Her previous WNBA stops include the San Antonio Stars, Washington Mystics, and Atlanta Dream. Before this season, her total WNBA earnings were about $21,395.

A training camp contract is a one-year, non-guaranteed deal and doesn’t count against the salary cap until the regular season if Peters makes the team

    8) Jacy Sheldon

Sheldon is on a four-year rookie deal worth $324,383, with an average annual salary of $81,096. She’s earning $74,909 in 2025. Sheldon was picked fifth overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA Draft and traded to the Sun in February 2025 as part of a multi-team deal. Her contract includes annual raises, and she’ll be a restricted free agent in 2029.

    9) Aneesah Morrow and Saniyah Rivers

Aneesah Morrow and Saniyah Rivers were drafted in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Draft (Nos. 7 and 8, respectively) and are thus on similar rookie deals. Morrow and Rivers are on three-year, $237,670 contracts. Neither player will count against Connecticut’s salary cap due to the rookie exception rule, and both have a club option for a fourth season ($96,445 option).

    10) Leïla Lacan

Lacan is on a three-year rookie contract worth $227,657 and will earn $72,455 in 2025. She was drafted 10th overall in 2024 but delayed her WNBA debut to represent France in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where she helped win a silver medal.

She officially signed with the Sun in February 2025 and also plays for Basket Landes in France, where she averages 12.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. Her contract also will not count against the Sun’s salary cap due to the rookie exception.
