Caitlin Clark’s Fever Suffer Major Fall in Latest WNBA Power Rankings After Recent Tough Stretch

Going into the 2025 WNBA season, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever had high hopes after a full rehaul of the roster in the off-season. That overhaul also included hiring a new and proven Head Coach in Stephanie White.

The Fever were right up at the top of contending teams, and Clark was expected to be in the Most Valuable Player Conversations. After demolishing the Chicago Sky in game one with a triple-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, Clark certainly seemed to be ready for another historic season.

However, since that game one masterclass, the Fever have lost two of their last three, both by a single possession, with some crucial mistakes costing the Fever down the stretch. As a result, the Fever have found themselves dropping in the Power Rankings.

Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Drop to Sixth in New PFSN Power Rankings

According to PFSN’s latest WNBA Power Rankings, the Indiana Fever have fallen to sixth in the WNBA after being ranked third last week. The main reasoning for the drop is attributed to their recent performance and some mistakes, costing them very winnable games against the Atlanta Dream and the New York Liberty.

At the end of the Liberty game, Fever fans questioned the foul call on Lexie Hull that led to the Liberty getting free throws to take the lead. Furthermore, Clark believed she was fouled on the final play of the game too, but there was no call made.

Regardless of what the fans or Fever players believe, the result is the result. The Fever find themselves sitting at 2-2 after losing two very winnable games. Closing out games is a big part of winning games in the WNBA, and the Fever will have to improve their execution if they hope to contend for a title, as most expected them to before the season.

Now, the Fever’s road to contention also got tougher, as it was recently announced that Clark will be out at least two weeks with a left quadriceps strain. Fever Head Coach Stephanie White has said that Sydney Colson will likely enter the starting lineup in Clark’s absence and will need increased contributions from everyone to make up for Clark’s missing production.

Clark is currently averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds through the first four games of the WNBA season. While that will not be easy to make up for, the Fever brought in a bunch of new faces this past off-season, so Clark wouldn’t have to do as much as she did her rookie year. With Clark out for two weeks, we’ll see how well those additions can do without any contribution from Clark on the court whatsoever.
