Caitlin Clark has spent her first three WNBA seasons rewriting record books, and on Wednesday, she added a new kind of milestone to that list, one that had nothing to do with a stat sheet.
The announcement came alongside two of basketball’s biggest names, and it did not take long to make headlines of its own.

NBA 2K revealed its cover athletes for NBA 2K27, with San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama fronting the standard edition, Chicago Bulls legend Derrick Rose featured on the limited ultra edition, and Clark named the cover athlete for the deluxe edition.
With that honor, the Indiana Fever guard became the first WNBA player ever to appear on a global, standalone NBA 2K premium cover.
“Being on the cover of NBA 2K27 is special because this game reaches fans all over the world,” said Caitlin Clark. “To be the first WNBA player on her own global cover means women’s basketball gets to show up on that stage too, and I am proud to be part of that.”
The recognition comes during one of the best stretches of Clark’s young career. Now in her third WNBA season, she is averaging career highs of 20.7 points, 7.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game.
She’s shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three, numbers that mark a significant jump after a 2025 season cut short to just 13 games by injury. She has been named an All-Star in each of her three professional seasons.
Clark is not the first WNBA player to appear on 2K artwork. Angel Reese, A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, and Candace Parker have all previously been featured on special edition or alternate covers of the game.
What sets Clark apart is that her deluxe edition cover puts her name and image on equal footing with Wembanyama’s and Rose’s on the franchise’s biggest annual release, rather than on a separate or supplemental cover reserved for women’s basketball.
NBA 2K27 is set for a global release on September 4, with Deluxe and Ultra Edition buyers receiving early access starting August 28. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Clark’s cover adds another milestone to a season already filled with career-best numbers, cementing her as one of the sport’s most visible faces both on the court and off it.
