Sunday night at Madison Square Garden will be star-studded, literally. Two NBA All-Star starters, Luka DonÄiÄ (who also happens to be the leading vote getter in the All-Star voting) and Jalen Brunson, will battle it out on the court when the Los Angeles Lakers face the New York Knicks. Off it, last year’s top WNBA All-Star vote getter, Caitlin Clark, will make her broadcasting debut. Here is everything you need to know about the spectacle.
What Is in Store for Caitlin Clark’s On-Air Debut?
The WNBA season is still a few months away. Moreover, uncertainty looms over it, thanks to the stalemate over the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Therefore, fans are not really sure when they will find Clark on court after her sophomore season ended with just 13 games due to multiple injuries. It must be a welcome sight for them when Clark appears on NBC Sports for the debut episode of “Basketball Night in America.”
NBC is trying to replicate its “Sunday Night Football” broadcast during the NFL season and bring the same flavor to basketball. Along that line, “Sunday Night Basketball” debuts on Sunday. Just like “Football Night in America” ahead of “Sunday Night Football”, the pre-game show is called “Basketball Night in America.”
Caitlin Clark makes her NBA Broadcast debut tonight at 6 PM EST as a special contributor for NBC Sports at Madison Square Garden

Date: Feb. 1
Time: 6 p.m. ET
Channel: NBC
Streaming: Peacock, DirecTV, Hulu + Live TV, and more
What Will Be Clark’s Role in the Broadcast?
Clark’s official designation for the broadcast will be ‘special contributor’. She will provide pre-game commentary on the “Basketball Night in America” show before the Lakers-Knicks game. The tip-off for that game is at 7 p.m. ET.
Who Else Will Be There on the Broadcast Crew Alongside Clark?
Clark will join the pre-game crew of basketball Hall of Famers Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady. The panel will be hosted by Maria Taylor, a role somewhat similar to the one she performs on “Football Night in America” during the NFL regular season.
The broadcast team for the game itself will feature Mike Tirico, Reggie Miller, Jamal Crawford, and sideline reporter Zora Stephenson. Clark is not scheduled to call the game.
Will Clark Be a Regular on NBC Broadcasts?
As of now, Clark is joining for two appearances. After Sunday, she is scheduled to join again on March 29 when the Knicks travel to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Further appearances will apparently depend on how the WNBA season plays out.
For good reasons, Clark is excited about the opportunity. In a statement, the two-time WNBA All-Star said, “I’m really excited to be part of the Basketball Night in America crew this season. Carmelo, Vince, and Tracy are legends of the game, and Maria is a true professional. It will be really fun to join them a few times this season.”
