‘I’m Wheezing’ — WNBA World Reacts to Caitlin Clark’s Accidental Raunchy Comment While Praising Raven Johnson

Caitlin Clark’s pregame slip sparks hilarious WNBA reactions as fans turn an awkward moment into viral gold ahead of Fever’s preseason win.

The Indiana Fever couldn’t have asked for a better start to their 2026 preseason. They cruised past the New York Liberty with a 109-91 win. While the result made headlines, it was a lighthearted pregame moment involving Caitlin Clark that truly sent the WNBA world into a frenzy.

Caitlin Clark’s Viral Pregame Interview Comment Sparks Hilarious Reactions

During a pregame interview on Saturday, Clark was discussing rookie Raven Johnson and her on-court abilities when she accidentally let slip a comment that quickly turned unintentionally suggestive.

“Raven [Johnson] is gonna be a primary ball handler. She’s trying to conduct the offense, and that’s a great responsibility… She’s a great defender, has long arms, and gets her hands all over the balls. Pause. Sorry,” Clark said during the interview.

The snippet from the interview quickly spread on the internet, with the WNBA community reacting to it all over social media.

For anyone who has been following Clark for a while, they know how quickly she speaks when answering questions.

It’s not unusual for her to get caught in the flow of her thoughts, and this appeared to be one of those moments where her words simply got ahead of her intent.

Rather than criticizing her, the WNBA community largely embraced the humor.

“‘gets her hands all over the balls. pause. sorry.’ She sounded apologetic for real, too I’m wheezing,” one user posted.

Interestingly, Clark’s teammate Lexie Hull has built a bit of a reputation for dropping similarly awkward or cheeky comments during interviews. The WNBA world was quick to connect the dots, joking that Clark might have unintentionally borrowed a page from Hull’s playbook.

“WHEN YOU JUST DID A LEXIEISM….,” one user remarked, meanwhile another one commented, “Thinking back to that Lexie presser.”

Everyone has had a “pause” slip at some point, especially in unscripted conversations. Fans pointed out that Clark simply had her turn in the spotlight, and the internet amplified it with humor.

“CC with a pause moment! Ayoooo,” one user pointed out.

In Saturday’s game, Clark helped the team by scoring 7 points and 3 rebounds in 17 minutes. But it seems like her unscripted moment stole most of the show online.
