It’s been an adjustment period for WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Clark has been out since suffering a left quad injury during the May 24 game against the New York Liberty. The Fever lost that one, along with the next two, before recently bouncing back with a win over the Mystics. Next up, they face Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Saturday night.
Unfortunately, Clark will also miss that game. Still, she offered an encouraging update on her injury and the recovery timeline. She hasn’t ruled out a return sometime next week or shortly after. In her first media appearance since going down, Clark talked about how tough it’s been to not be there for her teammates and how she’s trying to grow from what’s become her first major injury in the WNBA.
Fever Star Caitlin Clark Talks Injury Recovery and Why She’s Not Setting a Return Date
Clark confirmed she’ll be re-evaluated after the Fever’s game against the Sky.
“After this weekend, I’ll be re-evaluated and I’ll have a better idea when I’ll return,” she said.
As for when that might be, Clark kept it vague.
“We’re trying not to put an exact date out there, because it is a day-by-day thing,” she said.

The good news? She’s making real progress, even if she’s being careful not to rush the process.
“I’ve made a lot of progress, and I feel good, but I’m not going to rush coming back. It’s just not worth it.”
That kind of patience suggests Fever fans might see her back in uniform sooner rather than later. Until then, Clark is showing the kind of maturity and leadership you’d expect from someone who’s already the face of the league.
She emphasized how much being there for her team still matters to her, even if she can’t be on the floor.
“Being a really good teammate, being there for them, and a voice for them,” she said.
When asked if this is testing her patience, Clark smiled and admitted, “I’m not a very patient person.”
Still, she followed up with a more optimistic tone.
“It’s an opportunity to grow,” she said. “I’m trying to approach it the best way I possibly can. I think my patience has grown a lot, and just trying to grow and learn. I think I’ve done that,” she added with a smile.

Clark’s presence, even while sidelined, continues to have a big impact. She’s not just a generational talent, but a steady voice and role model for her team.
“The hardest part is not being involved in practice. I love practice. I enjoy competing every single day with my teammates,” she said.
That attitude says everything about the type of leader she is, both on and off the court.
