‘9th in Your Rankings, 1st in Your Nightmares’ – Caitlin Clark Fan Trolls WNBA Players for Disrespecting the Fever Star in All-Star Voting

WNBA players rank Caitlin Clark the ninth-best guard despite receiving highest fan votes, Clark faithful roasts the league with hilarious message.

When the Indiana Fever fans say it’s Indy vs the world, they really mean it. The latest WNBA All-Star voting proves that again.

While the fans voted Caitlin Clark the No. 1 in the backcourt (and overall), her fellow players placed her ninth among the guards in the league. This comes amid the Fever star breaking her own All-Star voting record for the second consecutive year, and the fans aren’t just voting now; they are trolling the rest of the WNBA.

Caitlin Clark Voted 9th Among Guards by Fellow Players, Fan Vents Disagreement Hilariously

The WNBA announced Sunday, June 29, that Fever guard Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier will serve as captains for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game after finishing as the top two vote-getters in fan voting.

Clark pulled in a stunning 1,293,526 votes, surpassing her own record of 700,735 from the 2024 season. Collier, who is the frontrunner for MVP this season, wasn’t far behind, earning 1,176,020 votes.

However, what angered the Fever and Clark fans was the player voting. The All-Star voting is composed of 50% fan vote, 25% player vote, and 25% media vote, and while it was clear that the Rookie of the Year received record-breaking support from the fans, the player vote ranked her ninth-best guard in the league.

It made clear what the league thought of Clark, who continues to make waves in her sophomore year despite injuries and is easily the most popular player in the league. One fan couldn’t help but troll the WNBA players who voted Clark ninth with a hilarious yet real message.

“9th in Your Rankings, 1st in Your Nightmares,” a placard held by a fan read.

Whether there are eight guards better than Clark in the league or not, she’s the central focus of the opposing defenses and is often double and triple-teamed. Her opponents have admitted to centering their focus solely on her, which raises some concerns about the players ranking her ninth among the guards.

As for her performances compared to the other guards, sure, Clark has been a little less impressive than she was in her rookie season, but that’s largely because she’s been in and out of the games due to injuries. Still, whenever she is on court, she’s been one of the best, if not the best, averaging 18.2 points and 8.9 assists per game while also grabbing 5 rebounds and tallying 1.6 steals per contest.

Clark again appears to have been disrespected, to put it bluntly, when compared statistically with other guards above her on the list. Take New York Liberty’s Natasha Cloud. She is ranked fourth on the list despite averaging half of Clark’s average points per game. Clark outperforms Cloud in other major statistical categories with ease as well, highlighting a serious divide about the Fever star’s image among the players in the league.

Or maybe it was to do with the whole of Indy as well, with Aliyah Boston facing a similar situation. In the overall voting, she was ranked No. 2 in the frontcourt, behind Collier, while the players had her ranked ninth best among the Forwards/Centers in the league.
