Angel Reese is quickly rewriting the record books this WNBA season. On Tuesday night, the second-year forward delivered one of her strongest performances of the year. She led the Chicago Sky to a much-needed 97-86 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks.
The 23-year-old forward finished with 18 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, and four steals. This impressive all-around performance showcased exactly why Chicago selected her seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
In the process, the Sky snapped a three-game losing streak with this win, moving to 4-10 on the season. Kamilla Cardoso also contributed significantly to Chicago’s crucial win, scoring a game-high 27 points along with seven rebounds and three assists.
Angel Reese Makes WNBA History With Record-Setting Pace
Reese’s breakout performance marked yet another milestone in her young WNBA career. According to Polymarket Hoops, Reese became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 150+ rebounds and 50+ assists in a single season.

The LSU product also set another record earlier in the game, becoming the quickest to reach 600 points and 600 rebounds in WNBA history. This milestone demonstrates her remarkable consistency on both ends of the floor.
Reese needed only 38 games to reach the earlier milestone of 500 career points and 500 career rebounds about a month ago. For context, most forwards take significantly longer to achieve such production milestones in their first two professional seasons.
With her showing on Tuesday, Reese now ranks second in WNBA history for most double-doubles through a player’s first two seasons, with 34. She passed Candace Parker (32) and trails only Tina Charles (45).
Sky Building Around Reese’s Elite Rebounding Skills
Despite Reese’s individual brilliance, Chicago is still facing an uphill battle in the standings after a rocky start under new head coach Tyler Marsh. The Sky entered Tuesday’s matchup having dropped three straight and struggled at just 3-10.
Chicago’s struggles highlight how difficult it can be for young teams to build chemistry, even with elite talent. The Sky selected both Reese and Cardoso in the top 10 of the 2024 draft, creating high expectations for immediate improvement.
Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca recently emphasized in an interview that the team needs even more from Reese:
“That’s something that has yet to come together, but it’s a necessity for us to win,” Pagliocca told the Chicago Sun-Times. “She’s had some great games, and she’s had some games like everybody else that haven’t been her best. But she’s our best chance at versatility on this roster. We need more production out of her, but we need her to help us in other ways, too.”

In this game, Reese clearly delivered the versatility Pagliocca has been asking for. Her rebounding prowess has been particularly impressive, as she’s now averaging a double-double with 10.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
Her shooting numbers include 37.4% from the field and 76.3% from the line. While there’s room for improvement in her offensive efficiency, she continues to grow as a facilitator on both ends of the floor.
Reese’s impact extends beyond traditional statistics. Her energy and motor have transformed Chicago’s approach to rebounding, making them more competitive in games they might have lost in previous seasons.
For Reese, it was another milestone night in a season quickly filling up with them. As she continues developing her professional game, these record-setting performances suggest Chicago made the right choice in building around her unique skill set.
