Angel Reese Makes WNBA History As Sky Star’s Dominant Stretch Continues

Angel Reese broke WNBA history with her fifth straight 15+ rebound game while wearing her new 'Mebounds' merchandise in Chicago's 80-75 loss to Minnesota.

Angel Reese made WNBA history again. In her second season with the Chicago Sky, she’s rewriting the record books one rebound at a time.

Despite Chicago falling to Minnesota 80-75, Reese grabbed 17 rebounds and scored 16 points for her fifth straight double-double. More importantly, she became the first player in league history to record five consecutive games with 15 or more rebounds.

How Did Angel Reese Break the WNBA Rebounding Record?

Reese’s historic streak started building momentum after she earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors. The Chicago forward has been unstoppable on the glass, pulling down between 16 and 19 rebounds in each of her last five games.

Her best performance came in the Sky’s 92-85 victory over Los Angeles, where she posted a season-high 24 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists. That game showed just how complete her skill set has become in the 2025 season.

During this five-game stretch, Reese has averaged 17.0 points, 17.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. Those numbers dwarf her season averages of 12.4 points and 12.6 rebounds. The rebounding surge has elevated her game to an elite level that few players in WNBA history have reached.

What makes this streak even more remarkable is the consistency. Most players might have one or two monster rebounding games, but Reese has sustained this level for over a week of games. The previous record holder managed only four consecutive games with 15-plus rebounds.

Why Did Angel Reese Turn ‘Mebounds’ Into a Business?

Before Sunday’s game against Minnesota, Reese showed up wearing her “Mebound” t-shirt. What started as criticism from podcaster B Hen on Jeff Teague’s “Club 520 Podcast” has become Reese’s personal brand and business venture.

The term “Mebound” was meant to mock her rebounding style, suggesting she only grabbed rebounds that came directly to her. Instead of getting defensive, Reese trademarked the phrase and launched an entire merchandise line.

Her product line launched at the end of June with t-shirts, hats, beanies, hoodies, and slides. The proceeds support cyberbullying prevention through The Angel C. Reese Foundation, turning negative commentary into positive social impact.

On her website, fans can find oversized t-shirts featuring her silhouette grabbing a rebound. Another popular design includes the phrase “Anything That Comes Off That Board, It’s Mine” printed across the front.

Speaking to reporters before the game, Reese explained her business philosophy: “I try to make as much money when I’m sleeping as when I’m awake.” She credited her team for helping navigate the business side of her new venture.

“I think my team does a great job putting me out there, and we have a lot of great things coming. To be able to have my own brand, and revenue shares obviously is something that we’re negotiating with our CBA, why not be able to do it with my own brand right now and benefit off of it?”

The timing couldn’t be better for Reese’s business launch. Her historic rebounding streak has put her back in the spotlight, and the “Mebound” brand gives fans a way to celebrate her unique style. What critics meant as an insult has become a badge of honor that’s generating real revenue for a worthy cause.
