The Chicago Sky needed a response, and they delivered one at home on Wednesday, July 9. Snapping a two-game skid with a decisive win over the Dallas Wings, the team found energy on the floor and attitude off it.
Sky’s star forward, Angel Reese, already one of the most talked-about players this 2024-25 season, added another chapter to her growing presence with a post that quickly stirred attention.
How Did Angel Reese Celebrate the Sky’s Much-Needed Victory?
Following the Sky’s 87-76 victory over the Wings at Wintrust Arena, Reese posted a bold four-word message on X:
“DUBS IN THE CHATTTTT.”

The post immediately gained traction, seen as a celebratory and somewhat savage reply in the context of the Sky snapping a two-game losing streak. Reese, who finished the night with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and one assist on 6-of-10 shooting, was central to the team’s win on both ends of the floor.

Already the WNBA’s league leader in rebounds at 13.1 per game, Reese added to her double-double tally with her signature energy and physicality. She was active on the glass and efficient from the field, anchoring a Sky team that entered the game needing a momentum-shifting performance. Together with Rebecca Allen’s game-high 27 points, Reese helped Chicago secure a comfortable win.
The game also marked the Sky’s second win in their last five games, improving their recent stretch to 2-3. For Reese, it comes a day after being selected for the WNBA All-Star Game for the second straight year. Picked as a reserve by Captain Napheesa Collier, Reese’s recent form only reinforces the selection.
Why Did the Wings Struggle Without Their Star Players?
The Wings entered the contest already shorthanded. With Arike Ogunbowale and DiJonai Carrington both sidelined, Dallas lacked scoring firepower and perimeter defense, two voids that were evident throughout the game.
Despite a 17-point effort from rookie Paige Bueckers, the offensive flow never fully materialized. Bueckers shot just 5-of-20 from the field and missed all four of her attempts from three-point range.
Most of her production came at the free throw line, where she converted 7-of-8. While the points show up on the box score, her rhythm was clearly off, and the lack of support around her left her carrying an oversized load.
The Wings kept the game within reach until the final quarter, but failed to recover from a nine-point deficit in the fourth. Their 6-15 record now reflects a team struggling to find consistency in the absence of key pieces.
Meanwhile, the Sky controlled several key areas statistically. They outrebounded Dallas 40-31, moved the ball better with 24 assists to the Wings’ 18, and dominated the paint with 10 blocks compared to just four from the Wings. Reese’s presence on the boards and around the rim was a major factor, as was the Sky’s ability to keep the Wings from getting second-chance opportunities.
The win gives Chicago something to build on ahead of the All-Star break. With Reese continuing to produce and inject energy, and the team’s defense holding firm even without star-level shooting, the Sky look to be rounding into form.
