‘It Sucks’ – Will Levis Gets Brutally Honest About Titans Drafting No. 1 Overall Pick Cam Ward

The life of an NFL quarterback can provide the highest highs and also the lowest lows, given the spotlight that centers on the position on every snap. From his four-touchdown debut to seeing the Tennessee Titans draft his replacement back in April, Will Levis has already experienced both the highs and the lows during his brief NFL career.

When asked about how the team’s decision to draft Cam Ward made him feel, Levis didn’t sugarcoat his reply.

‘It Sucks’ – Will Levis on the Titans Drafting Cam Ward

The Titans’ selection of Ward was the most consensus pick during the late 2025 pre-draft process. Once thought to be one of four players who could potentially be picked first, Ward had appeared to separate himself from the pack weeks in advance of the big event.

A former zero-star recruit, he had to work his way up the college football ladder, rung by rung, to become the top QB in the 2025 class. Tennessee’s need for a quarterback had also become obvious after a string of questionable performances from Levis during his two years with the team.

Those performances included comical interceptions and baffling decision-making, causing the fan base to give up on him. The Titans clearly agreed, drafting a new quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick.

Speaking to the media during Tennessee’s OTAs, Levis gave his thoughts on the situation for the first time since the draft. While naturally hurt to have been replaced, Levis stated his intentions to keep working hard and to be the best teammate that he could be.

“Anyone who’s ever been in my situation would agree that it sucks. I’m just trying to do the best I can to not let it affect me and just being the same dude every day in the building and being there for the guys however I can and just trying to get better every day.”

Levis Has Shown ‘A Lot of Improvement,’ Says Brian Callahan

Far from feeling sorry for himself, Levis spent time in California working with quarterback guru Jordan Palmer this offseason. The Titans QB told reporters that he had been working on the basics and that he was feeling better for it.

“It was a lot of just relearning my stroke, relearning my body, and trying to get back to the basics of that. I feel like it’s really paid off. I’ve been feeling good the last few weeks.”

Titans head coach Brian Callahan also revealed that he was impressed with the improvements that Levis had made and his positive reaction to the situation.

“I see a real improvement in his footwork and his base. His ability to control the football has improved. I’ve been really pleased with the work that he’s put in. He’s reacted really well to the room.

Levis will be 26 when the new season starts in September, giving him plenty of runway to change the trajectory of his career. Ward will undoubtedly get his chance to lead the team in 2025, but Levis’s attitude suggests he won’t be giving up on himself anytime soon.
