Who Are the Buccaneers-Steelers Announcers? A Look at CBS’ Broadcast Team for NFL Preseason Week 2

The Tampa Bucs travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. Who are the announcers for both teams?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will visit Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers in their Week 2 preseason matchup at Acrisure Stadium. Everyone awaits Aaron Rodgers’ debut as Steel City’s starting quarterback, but they will likely have to wait.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has been adamant about keeping his starters healthy and fresh for the beginning of the regular season, and it appears that pattern will hold on Saturday. Rodgers is not expected to play and will likely be on the sidelines in street clothes.

While wide receiver Mike Evans is expected to rest, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles plans to give his starters, including quarterback Baker Mayfield, playing time. They are not likely to play more than a couple of series, but Bowles wants his players to be accustomed to game speed.

The Buccaneers broadcast team is Chris Myers (play-by-play), Rondé Barber (color analyst), and Aileen Hnatiuk (sideline reporter).

Myers is primarily known for his announcing work with FOX, but he’s been the Bucs’ preseason play-by-play man for 20 years. In addition to football, Myers contributes to FOX’s MLB coverage, NASCAR, and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Barber is a former cornerback who spent his 16-year career with the Buccaneers. The former third-round pick played in five Pro Bowls and was selected first-team All-Pro three times and second-team All-Pro twice.

Bob Pompeani (play-by-play), Charlie Batch (color analyst), and Missi Matthews (sideline reporter) will be handling coverage for the Steelers’ broadcast.

Pompeani has been with KDKA since 1982 and was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. He’s won three Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards and eight AP awards for play-by-play of Steelers Preseason games.

Batch played 15 years in the NFL. The Detroit Lions selected him in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft. After leaving Detroit, Batch signed contracts with the Steelers and acted as their primary backup. He won two Super Bowls with the Steelers.
