Which City Will Super Bowl 61 be in? A Look at the Location of the Big Game in 2027

After Levi's Stadium hosted Super Bowl 60 in 2026, which city has the NFL chosen for hosting the Super Bowl 61 in 2027?

The Super Bowl has long been among the biggest sporting events of the entire calendar. With millions of people tuning in, it is regularly among the most-watched broadcasts of the year. With the two best teams of the season playing to crown a winner in the most evenly matched league that sports has to offer.

However, just as important to the broadcast of the game is the venue of the Big Game. With thousands attending the contest, the NFL makes a point of deciding the location itself. After Levi’s Stadium got the opportunity to host Super Bowl 60, the question now turns to next year’s extravaganza.

NFL Super Bowl 61 Location

Until recently, the process of choosing the next venue to host the Super Bowl was long and egregious. Teams and cities would submit bids to gain access to the event. But all that came to a head in 2018.

Since then, based on various criteria, the NFL has unilaterally selected the host venue for the Big Game, and the city has to submit a proposal. Once agreed upon by all owners, the city and the stadium become the official hosts of the Super Bowl.

It is a process designed to elevate the viewing experience, with only the top-of-the-line stadiums chosen for the night. While that has led to some repetition across host cities, it has ensured that fans have the best possible choices for the game.

After Levi’s Stadium hosted a rematch of an 11-year-old game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, the next Super Bowl, Super Bowl 61 in 2027, has already been decided to be held there.

A historically significant iteration of the event, it is the first time the Super Bowl will be played on Valentine’s Day, with a simulcast on ABC and ESPN, the latter of which will be streaming the Big Game for the first time ever.

Keeping in mind specific requirements such as a seating capacity of 70,000, an average game-day temperature of at least 50°F, and parking capacity of 35,000, among others, the NFL decides which city will host the Super Bowl.

In 2027, a familiar venue will return for the event. SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, which hosted Super Bowl 56 in 2022, will get its second shot at hosting the Super Bowl, with the Greater Los Angeles area hosting the Super Bowl for the ninth time.

The official decision was made on December 13, 2023, with the NFL announcing the home stadium for both the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers would be chosen for the honor.
