Amari Cooper remains one of the most intriguing free agents available, and he is expected to sign with a team before the season, bringing his 10 years of NFL experience to a new locker room.
Let’s break down the three best landing spots for the veteran wide receiver heading into the 2025 NFL season.
3 Landing Spots for Amari Cooper
1) Dallas Cowboys
Cooper played for the Cowboys from 2018 to 2021 and was highly productive, topping 1,000 receiving yards in two seasons and recording at least five touchdowns each year.
A return to Dallas would make perfect sense for Cooper. The Cowboys’ current wide receiver room features CeeDee Lamb as the lone star, with Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, and Jonathan Mingo as the next-best options. The team is clearly missing a reliable second target for Dak Prescott — a role Cooper could fill immediately.
Dallas addressed key needs in the draft, selecting Tyler Booker to strengthen the interior offensive line, Donovan Ezeiruaku as a future replacement for DeMarcus Lawrence on the defensive front, and Shavon Revel to bolster the secondary.
However, they failed to add another proven wide receiver, a move Stephen Jones had previously indicated was a priority. Lamb had even publicly pushed for the Cowboys to draft a reliable WR2, so it’s clear this is a position of need.
2) Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans are hoping that they have found their quarterback of the future in Cam Ward. They used the No. 1 overall pick on the Miami (FL) quarterback, who has plenty of potential but also has a lot of work to do to continue his development — especially in an AFC South that has gotten stronger this offseason.
Tennessee’s wide receiver group features Calvin Ridley, Treylon Burks, and Tyler Lockett as the main targets. However, Burks has yet to establish himself as a consistent contributor in the NFL. Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike were added through the draft — plus Xavier Restrepo was signed as an undrafted free agent — but it’s unclear if they’ll make an immediate impact.
To help ease Ward’s transition, the Titans could bring in Cooper to form a more reliable and experienced veteran trio. Meanwhile, the rookies could be used to stretch the field in specific packages, creating a more balanced and dynamic rotation that gives Ward an array of weapons at his disposal.
3) Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders sit somewhere in between the two previously mentioned teams. Cooper was originally drafted by the franchise, playing for the franchise (then in Oakland) from 2015 to 2018 and finding early success in his career.
Las Vegas’ current wide receiver group could certainly use another veteran. The team spent a second-round pick on Jack Bech, who joins Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker as the primary targets. Adding Cooper would give Geno Smith another trusted weapon and help create a more technically sound passing attack in 2025.
With the Raiders spending their first-round pick on Ashton Jeanty and aiming to establish a more physical, run-heavy offense next season, Cooper could thrive in a specialized role rather than being relied upon for heavy volume, which at this stage of his career seems like the ideal fit.
