The NFL has seen a significant decline in Pro Bowl popularity in recent years. Fans have lost interest in the game, and players have repeatedly declined to participate after being selected. As a result, the league continues to tweak its format and location, and a new venue for the Pro Bowl Games will be announced in 2026.
Where Will the 2026 Pro Bowl Games Be Played?
The game will be played at the Moscone Center, a convention and exhibition center in San Francisco, California. The city will also host the Super Bowl on Sunday; for the first time, the league is putting the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl in the same place.
The Pro Bowl used to be a standalone event. From 1967 to 2009, the game was held the week after the Super Bowl, with players who competed in the big game suiting up again the following week. In 2010, the date changed to the Sunday before the Super Bowl, and as a result, players competing in the championship skipped the event.
The league has tweaked the Pro Bowl format multiple times in recent years. With little interest from fans and players, the NFL tried several approaches, including a non-conference format and a fantasy draft-style format. But the game’s poor quality ultimately forced the league to turn it into a flag football contest starting with the 2023 edition.
Another change in recent years involves the date. The Pro Bowl used to be held on the Sunday before the Super Bowl; now, the Pro Bowl Games will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 3, with Super Bowl 60 on Feb. 8.
Which Stadium Will Host the Super Bowl This Year?
Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, will host the game. The Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots will battle in Santa Clara, and this will be the first time the 49ers’ stadium hosts the Super Bowl.
No one expected the Patriots to reach the Super Bowl in 2025. Fresh off a 4-13 season, the arrival of head coach Mike Vrabel and the return of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels more than exceeded expectations, and they massively accelerated the development of Drake Maye. He had a fantastic season, emerging as one of the league’s most efficient young quarterbacks across multiple advanced metrics.
There is also a compelling story on the Seahawks’ side. They signed Sam Darnold in free agency after his contract with the Minnesota Vikings expired, and Darnold, along with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, turned Seattle into a serious NFC West contender, which they ultimately won. In the playoffs, the Seahawks beat two divisional rivals, the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams, to make the Super Bowl.
