Where Is Pat McAfee? Examining Why NFL Insider Ian Rapoport Is Filling In as Host of ‘The Pat McAfee Show’

NFL insider Ian Rapoport hosted "The Pat McAfee Show" on Monday, March 24. That's because the former Indianapolis Colt was away on business.

“The Pat McAfee Show” aired with a noticeable change on Monday, March 24. That’s because NFL insider Ian Rapoport was in the studio co-hosting, while McAfee joined remotely via video call.

Rapoport was back in Indianapolis after his high-profile visit to the NFL Combine earlier this month. With McAfee’s absence clear from the jump, the two-time Pro Bowl punter addressed the situation right away.

Pat McAfee in Glasgow, Scotland, for ‘Monday Night Raw’

The episode started off with a funny moment when Rapoport claimed not to know where McAfee was. While appreciating the attempt to build some mystery, McAfee quickly pointed out that his location was clearly labeled on-screen.

“I’m in Glasgow, Scotland. Look to your right; it’s right above my picture on the big screen. Yeah, it says ‘In Glasgow,’ they probably already pieced that together.”

McAfee then explained why he was overseas.

“I’ve never been in Scotland, this is my first time over here. And, obviously, we have ‘Monday Night Raw’ here tonight, on Netflix.”

The longtime host then talked about his early impressions of the city, calling Glasgow “lovely.”

“I’ll tell you what, Glasgow is lovely. I’ve been waltzing around this town all morning, kinda getting a lay of the land, seeing some things.”

McAfee shared a few stories from the morning, including a breakfast stop at a café and a visit to a local barber shop for a haircut. The former Colts punter seemed to be enjoying his time in Scotland — especially the rare sunny weather, which the country isn’t exactly famous for.

Ian Rapoport Talks Free Agency, Trade News

McAfee made good use of Rapoport’s in-studio appearance, quizzing the NFL insider on a range of rumors and stories. One topic was the recent meeting between Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, which Rapoport said “went well.”

Rapoport was also asked about the Indianapolis Colts’ rumored interest in Trey Hendrickson after the Cincinnati Bengals gave the pass rusher permission to seek a trade. He confirmed the Colts have interest but noted the Bengals want to keep him.

“I know the Bengals are working on it. And I know they would like to keep him in the building.”

Where both players land will be major stories to watch. The odds of Hendrickson staying in Cincinnati seem stronger now than they did earlier. The Rodgers situation also appears to be moving along, but the final outcome still isn’t clear.
