Where Did Cooper Kupp Go to College? How the Rams Receiver Went From FCS Standout to NFL Breakout

The Los Angeles Rams' offense has been one of the best in the NFL, thanks to star wide receiver Cooper Kupp. But where are his college roots planted?

Cooper Kupp has been one of the NFL’s best receivers for years, and 2023 has been no different. The Los Angeles Rams can thank Kupp for a lot of their offensive success, which has helped them in 2023.

Kupp’s NFL success was no surprise, though, as he was a college football star first. Where did he go to college?

Cooper Kupp’s College Career

Kupp was born June 15, 1993, in Yakima, Washington. He attended Davis High School, where he was a two-sport athlete, playing both basketball and football. He finished his senior season with 60 receptions for 1,059 yards and 22 total touchdowns.

Kupp is the grandson of former NFL offensive lineman Jake Kupp and the son of former NFL quarterback Craig Kupp. The Kupp family is one of just five in NFL history to have three generations selected in the NFL Draft.

After a successful high school career, Kupp committed to Eastern Washington. According to Rivals, he had only one offer, which was Eastern Washington. He spent five seasons with the Eagles, redshirting his freshman season.

In the four seasons that he got playtime, he compiled 428 receptions for 6,464 yards and 73 touchdowns. His best season came in 2016, his senior season, when he caught 117 passes for 1,700 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was named Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year twice and FCS All-American four times.

After his college career, Kupp was taken in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Rams. Since being drafted, he has caught 557 passes for 6,987 and 50 touchdowns. His best season came in 2021 when he caught 145 passes for 1947 yards and 16 touchdowns.

In 2023 alone, Kupp has caught 49 passes for 658 yards and four touchdowns. As of Dec. 20, he’s played in just 10 games due to a lingering hamstring injury at the beginning of the season.
