NFL Draft Start Time and Schedule
The 2025 NFL Draft will take place at historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay Wisc., continuing a recent trend of warm-weather cities getting the Super Bowl and cooler climates getting the draft. The draft can be seen on ABC, ESPN and the NFL Network.
The Tennessee Titans own the first overall selection and will be on the clock starting at 8 p.m. ET. For the first round, teams are given a maximum of 10 minutes to make their pick.
The second round opens up at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, and two rounds will be concluded on the second day of festivities. Things will wrap up with Rounds 4-7 on Saturday, starting at noon ET and concluding with “Mr. Irrelevant,” pick No. 257.
What Time Will Lions Make Their First-Round pick?
With the No. 28 pick, the Lions are estimated to make their first selection around 11:46 p.m. ET, based on their current position and the average time it takes for each team to make a pick, which is 7 to 9 minutes. That’s assuming each team takes its full allotment of time on the clock.
Trades always occur, and some teams run to the podium faster than others, but if you tune in 10 to 15 minutes ahead of that estimation, you should be in a good spot to see this pick be made.
As a reminder, teams have 10 minutes to make their picks in Round 1. That decreases to seven minutes per pick in Round 2, five minutes per pick from Rounds 3 to 6, and four minutes per pick in Round 7.
PFSN’s Latest Draft Projection for the Lions
In his latest 7-round mock draft, PFSN NFL Draft analyst Jacob Infante projects the Lions will select North Dakota State guard with the No. 28 overall pick:
“With the departure of Kevin Zeitler in free agency, the Detroit Lions find themselves with an opening at right guard along an otherwise stellar offensive line.
“North Dakota State has had two offensive linemen drafted on Day 2 in the last four years. Grey Zabel, an experienced starter with strong short-area quickness, a nasty demeanor, and versatility across the line, could be the first to crack Round 1.”
