What Do Different Platforms Say About the Fantasy Playoff Ties?

Some fantasy football players might be watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, behind quarterback Aaron Rodgers, dominate the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. The Steelers ended up winning at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, 28-15, as Tua Tagovailoa had another underwhelming game.

Let’s say a fantasy football playoff game ends in a tie. What happens? According to three major fantasy football platforms, they have rules and regulations that outline how that breakdown.

For ESPN’s fantasy football players, the platform states, “If there’s a tie in a playoff matchup in a standard league, the higher-seeded team will advance. This is also the default setting in League Manager leagues.”

Yet, according to Yahoo Sports, it states, “Tiebreakers for playoffs are determined by, ‘Higher seed wins’ or ‘Best regular season record vs. opponent wins.'”

But Sleeper, one of the most popular fantasy football platforms, states, “If any playoff matchups end with a tie score, the winner is automatically the higher seed.”

Therefore, these major fantasy football platforms all have their own reasons for determining how a tie would be resolved.

Fantasy football players would look at Monday night’s superlatives to see how their players performed on the field. Since the Steelers just dominated the Dolphins pretty much all night long, let’s see how their top players fared.

What about Rodgers? The old quarterback did pretty well, completing 23-of-27 passes for 224 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Kenneth Gainwell led the Steelers’ rushing attack with 13 carries for 80 yards and no touchdowns. Jonnu Smith and Connor Heyward, though, scored rushing TDs for Pittsburgh.

Wide receivers DK Metcalf and Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught both touchdown passes from Rodgers against the Miami secondary.

As for Miami’s Tagovailoa, he was 22-of-28 passing for 253 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. In the Miami run attack, De’Von Achane had 12 carries for 60 yards but didn’t get into the end zone.

What about Miami players on the receiving end of TD passes from Tagovailoa? The honors there went to Darren Waller, who caught two scoring passes on Monday night.

Fantasy football players will now get busy looking at how these scoring plays affected their plans.
