Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys were absolutely demolished in their Week 6 home game against the Detroit Lions. Here we explain why Prescott’s day ended early.

Why Dak Prescott Didn’t Finish the Game in Week 6
Cooper Rush entered the game with 13:12 left in the fourth quarter with the Cowboys trailing 47-9.
Dak’s day ended after his second interception to Brian Branch, ending a day to forget. Prescott finished 17-of-33 for 178 yards and two touchdowns, failing to lead a single touchdown drive.
It’s the first time since the 2022 season opener versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that Prescott failed to lead a touchdown drive in one of his starts.
Dallas was the top-scoring offense in the league last year but has fallen far off that pace, entering the day with the 15th-ranked scoring offense. That will likely dip further once the dust is settled in Week 6.

Prescott and the Cowboys will have a much-needed bye week after this disaster, but things don’t get any easier. The Cowboys will visit the San Francisco 49ers, who have won three consecutive games against Dallas by an average of 15 points per game.
Rush has seen action in two other games this year, finishing out blowout games in Week 1 at the Cleveland Browns and Week 2 at home against the New Orleans Saints. He came to prominence during the 2022 season for going 4-1 as a starter when Prescott was out with an injury to his throwing thumb.
