Football finally returned last weekend with the start of the NFL preseason, and the action picks back up this weekend as Week 2 gets underway.
After a full slate of games on Saturday, the night wraps up with a battle of 1-0 teams as the Arizona Cardinals travel to Denver to face the Broncos. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the matchup.
When Is the Arizona Cardinals vs. Denver Broncos Preseason Game?
- Date: Saturday, August 16

Arizona’s starters saw limited action in Week 1, and they reportedly plan to continue playing them on a case-by-case basis. The team traveled to Denver earlier this week for joint practices before they face off on Saturday night.
The Cardinals are coming off a rough season where they went 8-9 and missed the playoffs. The preseason is a time to iron out roster issues and clean up execution before the regular season starts, and their matchup against Denver will be a good opportunity to do so.
The Denver Broncos also notched a win in their preseason opener, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 30-9. Like Arizona, they played their starters in limited snaps.

Denver is coming off its best season in a decade, making the playoffs and finding its franchise quarterback in Bo Nix. However, its offense looked clunky last week, and the Broncos will look to sharpen things up ahead of the regular season.
