Abdul Carter’s long wait to see if he’d be picked in the top five is finally over. The pass rusher went third overall to the New York Giants in a loaded 2025 NFL draft class. The Giants also picked Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo as they look to rebuild their offense.
Skattebo was a standout at Arizona State, but standing next to the Penn State pass rusher is like comparing the Burj Khalifa to a two-story house. A video making the rounds shows just how big the gap is.

Abdul Carter Is Ginormous
In a May 9 clip from Gridiron Media on X, new Giants teammates Skattebo and Carter stand side by side. Carter, No. 51, is seen standing a full helmet taller than Skattebo, No. 44, on the practice field inside what appears to be the team’s facility.

Both were in shorts, practice jerseys, and helmets. It’s easy to imagine how intense full-speed hitting drills could get between the smaller back and the much bigger defender.
According to official NFL Combine records, Skattebo was 5’9 1/2″ tall and 219 pounds, while Carter was 6’3″ and 250 pounds.
That means Carter is about 5.5 inches taller and 31 pounds heavier. While Skattebo was known in college for his tough, bruising running style, facing Carter head-on in the NFL is a different story.
Carter was drafted third overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, while Skattebo was drafted in the fourth round. Overall, the 2025 Giants have pulled seemingly every lever to reload their roster, especially on the offensive side.
Cam Skattebo’s Size Difference Raises Questions About New York Giants Overhaul
One thing’s clear: the Giants in May don’t look like the Giants from last October. Daniel Jones is out. Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Jaxson Dart are now in the QB room. Tommy DeVito is still there, but his spot doesn’t seem locked in.
Skattebo will likely compete with Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary for the starting job at running back. Skattebo led the Big 12 in rushing yards in 2024, so he probably wasn’t drafted just to sit on the bench.
Still, it’s fair to wonder how a smaller, hard-nosed runner like Skattebo will hold up getting hit by someone like Carter all game long.
And with size questions already popping up in May, months before any games are played, it raises even more curiosity about whether this new-look Giants team has other hidden problems waiting to surface.
Of course, the Giants hope to find new strengths in their revamped roster as the season progresses. However, the NFL tends to narrow down how teams can use certain players over time.
Will the Giants’ roster look better, or worse, by the time January rolls around?
