It’s been two weeks since NFL free agency kicked off, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still unsigned. The 41-year-old has been linked to a few teams, but with several filling spots, his options are shrinking.
With Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson now in New York, the Giants are clearly out of the Rodgers sweepstakes. That leaves the Pittsburgh Steelers looking like frontrunners to land the four-time MVP — or are they?
Minnesota Vikings Signing Aaron Rodgers?
Just a week ago, it appeared the Minnesota Vikings were happy with their quarterback room. But general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah seems to be keeping all options open.
Kevin Seifert, Vikings insider for ESPN, wrote on X: “Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on if he can rule out Aaron Rodgers as a possible QB addition: ‘For me to sit here and say anything is 100% forever, that’s just not the job.'”

Most believe the Vikings plan to move forward with rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The Michigan product spent last season behind Sam Darnold after an injury delayed his NFL debut. Whether McCarthy is ready or not, he may have to keep waiting.
With Adofo-Mensah’s subtle comments, you’ve got to think the Vikings are just as much in the mix for Rodgers as the Steelers.
Rodgers Ranks No. 53 in Free Agency as Vikings, Steelers Emerge as Final Stops — or Retirement Looms
In PFSN’s Top 121 NFL Free Agent Rankings, the Super Bowl champ comes in at No. 53 overall, making him the third-highest-ranked free agent quarterback behind Sam Darnold and Justin Fields. Darnold and Fields have already signed with the Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets.
As Rodgers continues his search for a new team, the PFSN stats and insights team broke down what he still brings to the table:
“He used to be a talent elevator and now likely needs to be elevated by the talent around him. Rodgers posted the lowest aDOT of his career in 2024 alongside his lowest deep touchdown rate.
“The late-season play was encouraging, and the downside is minimal. Rodgers had 130 pressured attempts last year, and not a single one of them was intercepted. He profiles as a steadying force for a team that is otherwise set to make a run.”
If Rodgers signs with Minnesota, he’d complete the full Brett Favre arc: playing for Green Bay, the New York Jets, and the Vikings. If not, Pittsburgh remains the likely landing spot. That would pair the 62,000-yard passer with head coach Mike Tomlin and a Steelers offense stacked with playmakers. If neither scenario works out, Rodgers could call it a career.
