After the NFL Draft, the hype machine swells to its fullest for late-round players who can tickle your imagination and become a league-winning player. This year, one of those players is Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Tracy’s fantasy football outlook has been gaining steam throughout the offseason due to his landing spot with the New York Giants. We watched the Giants move on from superstar Saquon Barkley, and the only veteran replacement they brought into town was Devin Singletary.
Fantasy managers are oozing with excitement over the 166th overall pick to take over the New York backfield by the fantasy playoffs. Can he become the lead back for the Giants? Let’s break down Tracy’s fantasy outlook for 2024.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
Tracy has the size of an NFL running back. He stands at 6’1″ and weighs 210 lbs. In the fifth round, the Giants were wise to take a stab at his size and athletic profile to help bolster their running back room. Last season, he turned in a strong campaign, especially given his ongoing transition from wide receiver.
He was efficient and elusive in 2023, precisely the style of running back an NFL team wants to take a dart throw on during Day 3’s festivities. Tracy is a natural playmaker with above-average athleticism and a knack for making plays in the passing game

His biggest issues are ones that rookies face quite often: getting better at pass protection and refining technique.
Another obstacle he is dealing with is suffering a preseason injury. While New York initially feared the worst, it turned out to be a low ankle sprain. Still, as a rookie, any missed time can be detrimental to his in-season snap percentage.
Is Tyrone Tracy a Good Fantasy Pick?
Tracy has an ADP of 164th overall. We don’t typically guide you toward players with injuries during training camp. However, Tracy’s profile and landing spot can be the golden ticket to fantasy football this season. Thankfully, if you draft him, the low cost allows you to pivot after a few weeks if necessary without much in the form of opportunity cost.
Furthermore, Singletary has never been a workhorse back. This season will test the limits of his volume. He also isn’t breaking off chunk gains consistently. Tracy’s big-play ability can help a Giants offense begging for explosives, creating more opportunities for the rookie.
Thankfully, this dart throw has a bye week that doesn’t cause us concern. The Giants enjoy their bye week in Week 11. Although it’s later in the season, we can survive that hit, as we should have other running backs that are higher than him on our depth charts anyway.
Strategically, Tracy is a solid late-round bet with playoff-impacting potential.
