Sunday Night Football keeps getting worse for the New York Giants as they suffered yet another injury. They lost kicker Graham Gano during warmups to an apparent groin injury, which is going to affect their kicking capabilities tonight, and now an injury to running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the first quarter.
What Happened to Tyrone Tracy Jr.?
Late in the first quarter, Tracy ran the ball to the outside and took a huge hit. He stayed down with an injury. As he returned to the Giants sideline, he was favoring his right shoulder and arm area.
Tracy was ruled out for the rest of the game just before halftime which was a concerning update for the Giants as they were tied at 6-6.
Tyrone Tracy took a big hit on the sideline and is still on the ground. Trainers over to him. That was a very, very hard hit. #Giants

The hit that Tracy took was certainly not a weak one. Chiefs CB Jaylen Watson leveled Tracy near the sidelines after Tracy caught a screen pass and tried to pick up extra yards.

Tracy had seven carries for 29 yards before exiting. He also notched two catches for 7 receiving yards in his limited action.
He headed to the locker room to get checked out further.

Tracy looked lively before leaving the game. The long-term severity of the injury remains unknown at the moment, but this could be a multi-week injury if it is serious.

Cam Skattebo will be taking the majority of the reps in the Giants’ backfield for the remainder of the game. As a rookie, this will likely be his first chance to show the world what he can do in an expanded role in the NFL.
Heading into this week, every report indicated Cam Skattebo would be in line for an increased role. Instead, Tracy started and received a touch on each of the first five plays of the game. He was looking as good as he has all season before a big hit took him out.
Skattebo will assume the RB1 role with Tracy sidelined, while Devin Singletary will elevate to the RB2 role. If Tracy has to miss time, Skattebo will be startable as an RB3/Flex plays. Singletary won’t be startable, but should at least be on fantasy rosters as the Skattebo handcuff.
The Giants need their offense to put up points against a dangerous Kansas City offense led by Patrick Mahomes. A competent rushing attack will be very important to keeping up with the Chiefs. Losing Tracy is far from ideal, but the Giants have running backs that can plug in and give the Giants some tough runs.
The Giants have to get going before it gets too late, as with a loss, they will be staring at a 0-3 record. Losing Tracy and Gano is not what Giants fans were hoping for in the early stages of Sunday Night Football, but they will have to show resilience if they want to pull out an upset win over Kansas City.
