ESPN’s Adam Schefter released the latest report on the Miami Dolphins and Tyreek Hill trade talks. Hill has been rumored to head to a few different teams, though nothing has come to fruition. After an abysmal Week 1 performance, Hill has made his thoughts on the Dolphins clear. The 31-year-old has enjoyed plenty of success in his NFL career, though nothing has gone the Dolphins’ way since Hill joined the team in 2022.
What Did Adam Schefter Comment on Miami Dolphins and Tyreek Hill’s Trade Status?
While Hill would love to return to the Kansas City Chiefs, it has to be a trade that makes sense for all parties involved. Shockingly, Schefter reported that no one has called the Dolphins about Hill’s availability. It’s hard to imagine the organization would lie about something like this, though they could be using Schefter as leverage.

“To date, the Dolphins haven’t received any calls from other teams interested in WR Tyreek Hill and they currently have no plans to trade him, per sources,” Schefter wrote.
Even if they don’t want to trade him at this current moment, there is still plenty of time before the trade deadline. Knowing the state of this team, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where the Dolphins can become Super Bowl contenders. It’s far too early to count them out, but HC Mike McDaniels hasn’t done much to convince Dolphins fans otherwise.
Trading Hill could be seen as throwing in the title, but it all depends on what they get in return. Hill has a potential 2026 out in his contract. If that becomes a reality, his three-year, $90 million deal would turn into a two-year, $54M contract. The 31-year-old is set to earn a base salary of $29.9M in 2026 which is a substantial amount for someone who’s gone a year without a 30-yard catch.
Miami has struggled to find consistency with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. Most teams would love to have Hill and Jaylen Waddle at wide receiver, though it seems to make no difference for the Alabama graduate. While the Dolphins seem to have the talent on paper, it may be time to make a change.
Whether that change is trading Hill or firing McDaniels, the team has options. When healthy, Tagovailoa has showed signs of greatness. He may not be in the Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson conversation, but he’s a far better starting QB than some other NFL teams are using in 2025. Moving forward, Miami has a decision to make if any team gives them a serious offer for the eight-time Pro-Bowler.
