With Tyreek Hill questionable due to a quad contusion, how should fantasy managers handle the Chiefs WR when setting Week 6 lineups?

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is a stalwart in weekly fantasy football lineups … when healthy. Hill enters Week 6 dealing with a quad injury that threatens his playing status. How should fantasy managers approach the situation when setting lineups?

Tyreek Hill’s injury does not sound serious

As I’m sure many of you did as well, I watched the entirety of the Chiefs vs. Bills showdown last Sunday night. I am pretty sure that Hill banged his quad running into a defender on Byron Pringle’s second-quarter touchdown grab (4:48). Hill can be seen hopping on one leg following the collision, but he remained in the game.

Given that Hill’s injury has been described as a contusion as opposed to a strain, I’m inclined to believe the injury he’s dealing with is the one depicted in the video above. The good news is it’s not something that is at risk of any aggravation.

Is Tyreek Hill going to play Sunday?

This question is difficult to answer because only Hill knows how he truly feels. The best we can do from afar is listen to what those close to him are saying.

Hill did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday but returned to practice Friday in a limited capacity. The Chiefs listed him as questionable for Sunday’s game against Washington.

After practice on Friday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that Hill was “bouncing around pretty good.” Pete Sweeney added and tweeted out that “Tyreek Hill returned and looked normal.”

I am certainly no authority on injury predictions, but after two decades of dealing with player injuries, you develop a sense for when players will play and when they will miss. I think Hill plays this week.

Should you start or sit Hill in Week 6?

Just because a questionable player suits up doesn’t automatically mean that player should be in your lineup. We’ve seen plenty of injured players take the field and be too banged up to produce. Fortunately, I do not anticipate that being the case with Hill. Fantasy managers will also have the luxury of knowing Hill’s status prior to the 1 PM games.

If Hill is playing for the Chiefs on Sunday, he’s playing for your fantasy team. We know how explosive Hill can be. He’s just two weeks removed from 186 yards and 3 touchdowns. No player in fantasy football has a higher weekly ceiling than Hill. And it doesn’t hurt that the game against Washington has shootout written all over it with the highest over/under of the week (54.5).
