The Miami Dolphins entered Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts with a healthy Tua Tagovailoa, so fans were excited to see what the offense could do. However, Miami has gotten off to a dreadful start, and their star wide receiver Tyreek Hill exited the game with an injury. What’s the latest on Hill?
What Happened to Tyreek Hill?
In the third quarter of the game, Hill went into the blue medical tent to get himself checked out. At the time he exited the game, he had four catches for 40 yards.
Fortunately, Hill has returned to the game, so it seems his injury isn’t significant.
The bigger concern is that the Dolphins’ offense sputtered against a weak Colts defense all afternoon.
Hill was our WR32 last season as he set a career low for yards per route run in a second consecutive season. His target earning numbers fell off a cliff and his yards after the reception average dipped by 34.5% in 2024 from 2023.
The vibes are off, and the predictive metrics are just as discouraging for a player who turned 31 in March.
Hill has had plenty of success in Miami with the Dolphins, but last season was a different story. This year looks like more of the same, as Hill only has two catches for 15 yards early in the game.
Fans were expecting a bounce back from Hill after he’s been such a reliable and dynamic weapon throughout his career.

The Colts are rolling over the Dolphins, and it looks very grim for the offense. Tagovailoa has struggled, and Hill hasn’t been very effective.
The Cheetah had a historically great 2023, and his 99.4 (A+) Wide Receiver Impact grade that season is the highest by any player in the last six seasons.
However, Hill’s WRi grade fell to 78.8 in 2024, ranking 32nd among receivers. His 63.1 receiving yards per game in games with Tua Tagovailoa were far below the 106.8 yards per game he averaged with Tua from 2022-23. Coming off a tumultuous end to the 2024 season, it appears the decline in the Tua-to-Tyreek connection has persisted into the new season.
The Dolphins’ offense is a mess. They have a coach who is certainly not going to be in charge of the team in 2026. Fantasy managers are best served by avoiding the Dolphins’ offense entirely.
