Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough has taken a long and winding road in college football but has been one of the nation’s top signal callers in 2024. Where Did Tyler Shough Project in Our 7-Round NFL Mock Draft?
In the latest mock draft from Pro Football Network NFL Draft Analyst Ian Cummings, Shough was not drafted. Despite playing seven seasons in the NCAA, Shough has yet to crack into the draft projections.
Shough went 4-3 at Oregon before transferring to Texas Tech post-COVID-19. He put together a 9-4 record across three seasons before transferring to Louisville. His seventh and final collegiate season has easily been his best, and a strong finish to the 2024 season could open up a path to a late-round selection in the NFL or potentially be a free agent signing.
Potential NFL Landing Spots for Shough
According to PFN’s updated NFL team needs, the following organizations should prioritize quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft. While teams won’t be investing high draft capital in acquiring Shough, the following teams have the QB rooms, coordinators, and coaches that could open a door for the Louisville slinger.

Shough amazingly started his collegiate career back in 2018. After a redshirt year at Oregon, he backed up Justin Herbert in his second season. He started every game in the 2020 season and led Oregon to a Pac-12 Championship. He struggled late in the 2020 Fiesta Bowl and eventually transferred to Texas Tech the next season.
Shough started 13 games for the Red Raiders but no more than five in a single season. He went 5-0 in 2022 but struggled again in 2023, going just 1-3. This led to his second transfer to Louisville.
The move east has been transformational for Shough, who is one of only 11 NCAA FBS quarterbacks to throw for over 2,000 yards in the first nine weeks of the season and one of just seven quarterbacks to reach 18 passing touchdowns in that timeframe.
