Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks suffered a fractured collarbone during a dive attempt at training camp on Saturday. This setback comes as he enters a critical season, fighting for relevance in a revamped offense led by rookie quarterback Cam Ward.
What Does Burks’ Injury Mean for Tennessee
Burks made a spectacular one-handed catch from Ward during a stadium practice, only for his shoulder to crash into the turf immediately after. Unfortunately, the catch came at a high physical cost.
ESPN confirmed the injury via team and league sources, and coach Brian Callahan issued a brief statement:
“Treylon Burks is being evaluated right now for a shoulder injury and we’ll have an update on his status at the appropriate time.”
#Titans WR Treylon Burks suffered a fractured collarbone here at their stadium practice, per me and @TomPelissero.
Burks will undergo further tests, but he’s expected to miss the start of the season at least. A frustrating outcome for the young pass catcher. pic.twitter.com/Mr2lF9Dcb6

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added that Burks is expected to miss at least the start of the regular season and may be sidelined longer depending on recovery and imaging results.
Burks’ Injury History and Production Slide
A first-round pick in 2022 (18th overall out of Arkansas), Burks was projected as a future No. 3 receiver for the Titans. But injuries have plagued his early career; he’s yet to play more than 11 games in any season.
He posted 33 receptions for 444 yards and one touchdown in his rookie year, followed by just 16 catches for 221 yards in 2023. In 2024, Burks appeared in five games and logged just four catches for 34 yards. His career total stands at 53 receptions for 699 yards and one score.
The Titans declined his fifth-year rookie option this offseason, making 2025 a make-or-break year for his career.
Cam Ward Must Adapt Without Burks
Burks’ absence leaves rookie quarterback Ward without one of his most dependable offseason targets. Ward had reportedly leaned on Burks during OTAs for install help and route-tree familiarity.
Tennessee responded by signing free agent receiver Ramel Keyton to add depth. Keyton spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024 and is expected to compete for reps alongside veterans Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett, Van Jefferson, and tight end Chig Okonkwo.
The offense now faces growing pains as Will Levis is out for the year, and Ward must develop chemistry quickly amid uncertainty.
With Burks out, the Titans will rely more heavily on Ridley, Lockett, and Okonkwo. That trio must produce immediately, or Tennessee risks falling short in a competitive AFC.
I know everyone has their opinions on Treylon Burks but this one handed catch was absolutely filthy. Pass from Cam Ward. #Titans pic.twitter.com/1kjtCu2snx

Burks was expected to stabilize Tennessee’s receiving corps and give Ward a trustworthy option as he transitions to the NFL. Now, the Titans must retool on the fly.
If he can recover and contribute late in the season, he still has a chance to revive his career, but the clock is ticking.
