The Jacksonville Jaguars shocked the NFL world during the 2025 NFL Draft as they traded the fifth, 36th and 126th overall picks along with their 2026 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for the second, 104th and 200th overall picks. They used the second overall pick to select two-way superstar Travis Hunter, giving quarterback Trevor Lawrence another dynamic weapon in the passing game.
Monday marked the first day of organized team activities for the Jaguars. The first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft offered high praise for his new teammate after spending some time together on the field.

Hunter and Lawrence shared the field with one another on Monday as organized team activities kicked off. The quarterback praised his newest wide receiver, stating:
“He’s got a lot of juice. He can run all day. A lot of energy. I love it. Good energy. Always dapping guys up, just bringing juice every day. Like I said, high motor. Can just go. He’s like a kid, just runs around all day. He doesn’t get tired, it seems like. So, you can’t have enough of that. As far as just talent, I mean, it kind of speaks for itself. Ball skills, run after the catch.”
“He’s very explosive. I just didn’t realize how explosive he was in and out of cuts. He’s impressive to watch. We’ve gotten to connect a couple of times. It’s only going to get better and better. We’ve only worked together for a couple of days now. So we’ve got some time to really dial in on the details.”
When asked about the difficulties of being a rapport with Hunter splitting his time on both sides of the ball, Lawrence responded:
“You work around all that. You get as many reps and you talk as much as possible. Not just out here, but out here after reps, after seven-on-seven and team reps. If I see how he did something and I think he can do it a little differently, or if he likes to do things a certain way, he can kind of voice that to me. Both of those things.”
“And then, in the building, in the meeting room, watching tape, installing. Talking about kind of what I’m looking for, what coaches are looking for in certain concepts. Just to get him up to speed because, obviously, he’s learning a new system. And he’s super talented, really smart, but it takes some time to learn the system. So, we’re trying to just get him up to speed so he can go play fast and free and not have to think about it.”

Hunter will give the Jaguars another dynamic weapon in the passing game to line up opposite Brian Thomas Jr. – last year’s first-round pick who earned Pro Bowl honors as a rookie. Jacksonville’s offense struggled tremendously in 2024, outside of Thomas Jr. – who recorded 1,282 receiving yards and ten touchdowns on 87 receptions.
They ranked 26th in points scored, 25th in total yards, 24th in passing yards, 28th in passing touchdowns, 26th in rushing yards, and 20th in rushing touchdowns. Their offense ranked 18th in the league, according to PFN’s Offense+ metric. Lawrence missed seven games, however, he struggled in the ten games he played as he ranked 31st in PFN’s QB+ metric.
