The Green Bay Packers took a flyer on cornerback Trevon Diggs at the end of the 2025 NFL season.
After Diggs spent the first six seasons of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, the team released him in late 2025, and the Packers claimed him off waivers in December.
However, after the season ended, Green Bay cut him as well. But he was seen working out in green and gold on Wednesday, and it has fans wondering.
What Trevon Diggs’ Workout with Micah Parsons Could Mean for a Return
Diggs developed into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL during his first few years in the league.
The Alabama product made the Pro Bowl and was an All-Pro in 2021, as he led the NFL with 11 interceptions and returned two of them for touchdowns.
He put together another Pro Bowl season in 2022 but hasn’t returned since.
The consensus around Diggs was that he has a lot of talent and he’s a ball-hawk, which can lead to high interception numbers and highlight plays, but he can also give up big plays by jumping on every route.
The cornerback suffered a torn ACL in 2023 and had just two interceptions and 11 passes defended in 11 games in 2024.
Then, after zero in either category through eight games last season, the Cowboys released him. He was in the third year of a five-year, $97 million rookie extension.
The Packers claimed him off waivers because they had depth issues at the position and needed help. Diggs had a history of success, and he joined Parsons, whom he played with during his first few years in the league, when he was at the top of his game.
Diggs played in just two games for Green Bay, getting three tackles before the season ended, and the Packers released him.
He’s now an unrestricted free agent, but he was seen training with Parsons on Wednesday, and he was doing so in a Packers hoodie.

The friendship between Parsons and Diggs is no secret. It was a big reason why the Packers claimed Diggs. However, could this workout picture mean more?
Teams have released players in the past to then re-sign them for a smaller deal. That could be part of the thought process for the Packers.
When Green Bay claimed Diggs off waivers, they assumed the remainder of his contract, but only for the rest of that season, which was about $472,000.

However, if the contract was kept for the next three years to finish out his rookie extension, he would’ve been due another $57 million over that span, according to Spotrac.com.
With Diggs’ injury history, his drop-off in play, and the Packers’ change in defensive coordinator, Green Bay wasn’t going to commit to that. However, if the team gets through the 2026 NFL Draft and needs extra depth at the position heading into training camp, Diggs could be an option.
