Dallas Cowboys’ star cornerback Trevon Diggs has had a turbulent few years due to injuries. The two-time Pro Bowler has had season-ending injuries in back-to-back years, both on the same knee. He played just two games in 2023 before a torn ACL ended his season, and played in 11 games in 2024 before he was sidelined through surgery for the rest of the year.
Diggs has now missed the first two phases of the Cowboys’ offseason program and was absent from organized team activities. While he was present during the mandatory minicamp, he didn’t participate in any on-field activities. However, one insider recently shared a positive update about the star corner, and barring any unfortunate incidents, he appears to be on track to start in Week 1.

Trevon Diggs On Pace To Start in Week 1 For the Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys drafted Diggs at 51st overall in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He did an excellent job for the franchise in his first three seasons, racking up 17 interceptions and earning two Pro Bowl nods.
In the first game of his fourth season in 2023, Diggs recorded three solo tackles and one pass deflection in a 40-0 win against the New York Giants. The 26-year-old followed it up with one solo tackle and two pass deflections in the next contest. Unfortunately, he tore the ACL in his left knee during a Week 3 practice session. The injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
Diggs returned to the gridiron for the 2024 NFL season opener. He missed Week 12 and Week 13 due to a groin injury and was later ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury on the same left leg.
On June 19, Cowboys insider Brandon Loree shared a positive update about Diggs’ recovery. The cornerback was seen making strong runs on the field as he worked with strength and conditioning specialist Dr. Sharif Tabbah at Alkeme Sports Rx in Florida.
“Diggs has been working hard all offseason at Alkeme Sports Rx. Progress is being made day by day with @doctor_reef,” Loree wrote.

Earlier last week, another Cowboys insider, Calvin Watkins, reported that Diggs is aiming to return in Week 1 of the 2025 season. Given his progress with Dr. Sharif, this is looking like a real possibility.
Dallas has struggled with the availability of its defensive units, and Diggs would be a key for the Cowboys’ return to the postseason. However, they wouldn’t want to rush him either, and owner Jerry Jones has kept the possibility open that Diggs could start the season on the physically unable to perform list, which would sideline him for the first four games.
Either way, Diggs is set to return to the field at some point in 2025, and with the possibility that the cornerback could be a free agent next season, he will have an extra chip on his shoulder to perform better. The 6’2″, 195-pounder had 11 passes defended in 2024 with two picks.
