Travis Hunter is projected to be a top-5 pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, and the way his younger brother, Trayvis Hunter, wowed a former NFL MVP, he might be a top pick as well when he enters the draft in a few years.

The young Hunter was playing for former QB Cam Newton’s team at an Overtime 7v7 football game and made a great run to the endzone for a splendid touchdown. Newton was delighted by the youngster’s footwork and jumped in joy as his C1N team led the RG3 Takeover 28-8.

The elder Hunter had also flown in to watch the game and was spotted coaching his brother and Newton’s C1N team before the game.
Trayvis has partly followed in his brother’s footsteps so far, playing wide receiver for Effingham County in high school. He is expected to graduate in 2027, and according to 247Sports, he stands 5-foot-7 and weighs only 140 pounds.
He has received four offers from Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Jackson State, and Tennessee State so far, and while the number would only grow in the coming year, he could follow in his brother’s footsteps and play for Jackson State.
Hunter was a standout in his one and only season at Jackson State, playing both wide receiver and corner at a very high level. He racked up 18 receptions for 190 yards and four touchdowns while also making two interceptions and 15 solo tackles.

Hunter would then transfer from Jackson State following his freshman season to follow Coach Sanders to Colorado. In his first season with the Buffaloes, Hunter quickly established himself as a premier superstar at the collegiate level.
Hunter was one of the only players in the history of college football to start on both sides of the ball and play nearly every snap in each game. Hunter showcased both his dynamic ability as a receiver and lockdown ability at corner, for which he earned the Paul Hornung Award as college football’s most versatile player and was also named a consensus All-American.
Hunter entered the 2024 season as the biggest star in all of college football. His ability to not only play both ways but profile as a game-changing asset at each position made him truly one of the most unique players to ever play college football.
As a receiver, Hunter hauled in 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns in 13 games in 2024. He led the Big 12 in receptions and touchdowns while serving as Shedeur Sanders’ top target.
On defense, he racked up 36 tackles (25 solo), four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and a forced fumble—often shadowing opponents’ No. 1 receivers.
He ended up winning the 2024 Heisman Trophy, firmly establishing his legacy as not just a Colorado great but one of the best players in college football history. The 21-year-old is now widely projected to be the first receiver as well as the first cornerback off the board, and in PFSN’s latest seven-round mock draft, he is predicted to be picked 4th overall by the New England Patriots.
“The Patriots can take many different approaches here. They will ultimately take the best player, Travis Hunter, who can excel as a receiver or a corner. Drake Maye gave Patriots fans a lot of reasons to be excited after his stellar rookie season.
The team must do everything in its power to surround him with talent. They signed Stefon Diggs, and I think Diggs is the perfect veteran receiver who can teach Hunter the nuances of playing the position at a high level in the NFL.”
