Colorado Swiss army knife Travis Hunter is one of the most unique NFL Draft prospects in years. The Heisman contender is considered one of the best prospects at both wide receiver and cornerback, raising legitimate questions about his highest-ceiling position in the league.
Below we take a look at Hunter’s 2024 season, his projected landing spot in our latest mock draft, player comparisons, and more.
Where Did Travis Hunter Land in Our Most Recent NFL Mock Draft?
In the latest mock draft from Pro Football Network NFL Draft Analyst Ian Cummings, Hunter was selected No. 3 overall by the Tennessee Titans.
Here’s what Cummings had to say on Hunter’s potential fit in Nashville, Tenn.:
“The Titans didn’t have a chance to pick one of the two top quarterbacks in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft, but they still came away with a blue-chip talent in Travis Hunter. And with Hunter, they can toy with the idea of adding an evolutionary playmaker at WR or CB.
“My stance is that Hunter is simply too dangerous as an offensive weapon to not play at WR — but opposite L’Jarius Sneed, he’d be a certified boundary bandit in the secondary, with generational turnover-generating skills. Wherever he plays, he’ll make an instant impact.”
Hunter’s Best Landing Spots in the NFL
Virtually, every NFL team needs a splash of playmaking on the perimeter, so Hunter would fit well on either side of the ball for most teams. However, these three franchises could particularly use Hunter’s skill set.
New England Patriots
People are clamoring for Drake Maye to get more help in a barren New England Patriots supporting cast. Hunter would bring the type of gravity to the offense that a Patriots pass-catcher has not demanded since Rob Gronkowski’s prime (albeit in a very different manner than Gronk).
New England has not boasted a 1,000-yard receiver since Julian Edelman in 2019. Hunter would have a legitimate chance to snap that drought as a rookie while providing Maye the type of easy button he won’t enjoy as a rookie.

Denver Broncos
Bo Nix’s playing style relies on yards after the catch by nature, with the Denver Broncos rookie quarterback peppering the flats and shallow hook areas in his weekly passing charts. Hunter would have to carry a lot of the yardage generation burden in this offense, but his run-after-catch ability is needed to make a quarterback like Nix work in the NFL.
Plus, this would allow Hunter to stay in Colorado. And even though his better fit is ultimately on offense for this team, could you imagine a potential Hunter-Patrick Surtain II cornerback duo?
Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence’s malaise has called into question the Jacksonville Jaguars’ roster construction and ability to develop their franchise quarterback. The Jags’ annual free-agency spending has resulted in a wide receiver and tight end corps built mostly out of outsourced talents. However, in Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville would finally have a pair of homegrown home run hitters for Lawrence to target.
Given Thomas’ usage as a perimeter X receiver and the likely need to start Hunter out in the slot, the two would complement each other nicely as the foundations of a receiver room. Coupled with a potential coaching change, this type of fresh slate could be what Lawrence needs to get his franchise quarterback trajectory back on track.
Hunter’s Scouting Report
Here’s a look at Hunter’s scouting report from Cummings:
“Hunter grades out as an early-to-mid first-round prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft — at both WR and CB. He’s in contention for the top spot at both positions, and there’s an argument to make that, with his versatility, he’s a true blue-chip prospect worthy of top-10 capital.
“Hunter simply moves differently. He brings awe-inspiring explosiveness, twitch, bend, and sink with his 6’1″ frame. He can use these dynamic traits either to gash coverages as a route runner, generate RAC yards in space, or match WRs and transition in zone coverage with effortless ease.
“As a cornerback, Hunter’s ability to sense where the ball is going and position himself to make plays is truly extraordinary, and it separates him as a deadly turnover-generating force. But those same catching instincts also make him very reliable as a receiving threat on offense.”
Travis Hunter’s 2024 Season Stats and Game Breakdowns
Hunter has been an All-American level performer at both wide receiver and cornerback to start the 2024 season. Here’s a look at his stats on both sides of the ball:
Wide Receiver
Receptions: 51
Receiving Yards: 604
Receiving Touchdowns: 6
Cornerback
Tackles: 16
Interceptions: 2
Forced Fumbles: 1
