A 44-yard reception from Travis Hunter seemed to turn the tide for the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Kansas City Chiefs. Sparking an immediate comeback, it allowed the Jaguars to rattle off 21 unanswered points, including a pick-six to take the lead against the Chiefs.
However, the third quarter may have brought some terrible news for Hunter, and by extension, Kansas City. A sight that has to worry every Jacksonville fan around, the two-way threat could be seen hobbling on the sidelines.
What Happened to Travis Hunter?
It has taken a while for Hunter to truly showcase the dominance that made him such a phenom at the collegiate level. However, a primetime Monday Night game against the Chiefs seemed like the perfect opportunity to make his case.
For the most part, he was living up to that billing, leading the team with two receptions for 56 yards, while making some critical stops and a pass deflection defensively. However, as the Chiefs tried to air it out on a 1st and 19, it didn’t work out in Hunter’s favor.

While he was able to stop Tyquan Thornton from catching a deep ball, he came out of the play limping immediately. Going to the sideline, fans caught a glimpse of the Colorado Buffaloes’ superstar hobbling on his feet.
Thankfully for the folks in Duval County, the situation did not turn out to be too serious, as the second-overall pick was able to make his return to the game. And he was wildly effective as well.
As the Jaguars tried to secure an improbable victory over Kansas City, he added another catch worth 12 yards to his tally. As a result, his night ended with 64 receiving yards on three receptions, his career-high through five games in the NFL. Defensively, too, he was very active, recording two total tackles and a pass deflection as well.
Coming into the game, Hunter had logged 159 snaps on offense, while being on the field on 101 defensive snaps. Against the Chiefs, a similar story played out, as he recorded 39 offensive snaps and 25 defensive snaps, right in line with his season averages.
This game, though, marked a history-making moment for him, as he became the first player in the last 20 years to get the starting nod on both sides of the football.
