NFL-Bound Travis Hunter’s Heisman Sneakers Turn Heads During Colorado’s Alamo Bowl Showdown

Colorado Buffaloes WR/CB and top NFL prospect Travis Hunter shows off his unique Heisman Trophy-themed cleats at the Alamo Bowl.

Ahead of the Alamo Bowl game, Colorado Buffaloes star dual-threat wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter showed off a unique Heisman Trophy-themed pair of football cleats. The shoe featured a color scheme of black, white, and gold, with both cleats containing the word “Heisman” on them alongside a graphic-designed picture of the Heisman logo.

Despite the cool cleat design, the Buffaloes were unable to defeat the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl. The Cougars won by a score of 36-14, with the Buffaloes not scoring a point before halftime. In the game, Hunter had four catches for 106 yards and a touchdown while posting four solo tackles defensively as well.

    Travis Hunter’s Heisman Cleats

The shoe was posted on the Colorado Buffaloes’ X (formerly known as Twitter) account, featuring a photo of Hunter posing with the cleats, as well as a close-up photo of just the shoes.

The photo also reveals that one cleat has silver beads spelling “Travis” and the other cleat with the same design featuring the word “Hunter.”

“heat on feet 🔥,” the post was captioned. The post was later removed, but you can see the cleats in the below image.

    Hunter’s 2025 NFL Draft Projection

At this point, Hunter is expected to be one of the first players taken in next April’s draft. This sentiment is shared by Pro Football Network’s Alex Kennedy, who has Hunter being selected No. 2 overall by the New England Patriots in his latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

As Kennedy explains, “A unicorn in every sense of the word, Travis Hunter‘s exploits at both wide receiver and cornerback have earned him a reputation as a potential all-time great. Will the Heisman Trophy winner play wide receiver or cornerback at the NFL level? Will he play both? Regardless of where he plays, he will be a game-changer.

“Hunter’s hyper-elite athleticism, flexibility, and playmaking instincts set the foundation for him on both sides of the ball. On offense, he’s an effortless separator, electric catch converter, and a run-after-catch threat. On defense, he’s as deadly a ball hawk as anyone has ever seen.

“He’s a freakish talent, and he’ll fit well in Foxborough, Mass., since wide receiver and cornerback are among the New England Patriots’ biggest needs. After selecting Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick last year, adding Hunter would make his life a lot easier.”
