Travis Hunter Had a ‘Feeling’ He’d Be a Jaguar, So He Started Shopping For a House in Jacksonville the Night Before NFL Draft

While Travis Hunter to the Jacksonville Jaguars felt like a surprise to many, it apparently did not surprise the Heisman Trophy winner.

The 2025 NFL Draft saw a massive move at the top as the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to select Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. While this move was a shocker for many, it appears that this was not completely out of the realm of possibility for everyone.

While signing autographs for Panini America, Kay Adams posted Travis Hunter discussing that he felt that the Jacksonville Jaguars would draft him to the point he was researching homes on Wednesday night.

Hunter had an electric season for the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024 as he recorded 96 receptions for 1,258 yards (13.1 yards per catch) with 15 receiving touchdowns as a wide receiver as well as posting 36 total tackles (25 solo, 11 assisted), one forced fumble, four interceptions, and 11 pass deflections as a cornerback.

Trevor Lawrence Reacts to Travis Hunter Being Drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars

There were a lot of surprised people to see the Jacksonville Jaguars trade up from the fifth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the second in order to select Travis Hunter. One of the people who seemingly were caught off guard but excited was quarterback Trevor Lawrence, as he reacted on social media with a pair of tweets.

The Jacksonville Jaguars finished last season with a 4-13 record as the team was decimated by injuries and could not find ways to win games. However, with a 1-2 punch of Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. out wide as well as Travis Etienne Jr. in the backfield, quarterback Trevor Lawrence has a solid offense to help move the football.

PFSN’s Ian Cummings had Hunter mocked to go second overall to the Cleveland Browns, heaping praise on his ability as a wide receiver specifically.

“Hunter is a unicorn simply with his high-end two-way ability, but as a WR, he has devastating potential as a three-level threat. He can carve up defenders with his routes, generate high-end RAC with his speed, agility, and bend, and make high-flying grabs.”

The Jaguars struggled offensively last season as they were 18th in the NFL with a 72.8 Offensive+ grade, per Pro Football Sports Network. Now with an additional weapon, new coach Kellen Moore, and new general manager James Gladstone, it appears that Duval could have a team that could be in the upper echelon of the AFC this season, and a clear picture of the future of Jacksonville football.
