Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is capturing attention after the conclusion of the 2025 NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Reports of him being “arrogant” and something similar made way to the media, but the legitimacy of the same is uncertain given some scouts and coaches have come forward to clear his name.
Nonetheless, Sanders remains one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in this year’s draft, besides Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.

Shedeur Sanders Applauds Michael Vick for Mentoring Him
At the NFL scouting combine, Sanders was interviewed about the person who helped him to the right track in his career. Sanders acknowledges the importance of guidance from those who came before him—especially former NFL quarterback Michael Vick.
“To be able to just debrief and decompress and everything—it was Mike Vick,” Sanders said of Vick. “He’s somebody I talk to because he knows the ups, the downs, and everything about this game. So I’m able to have a conversation with him, and he’s able to give me all the insight and knowledge that he has—where he did good, where he went wrong, and how he should have done this, this, and this. That’s why I’m thankful to have a mentor like him.”

Until Vick entered the NFL, the league didn’t know how to maximize the position of signal caller. The former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was a dual-threat talent and he held most of the rushing quarterback records until Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson came in to break his record and continue setting new benchmarks.
Shedeur Sanders Modeled His Game After?
While Vick may have provided mentorship to Sanders, it’s not his game; the Buffaloes quarterback has shaped his game after. Sanders is a pass-heavy quarterback, and when asked after whom he has modeled his game after, he named the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady.
During the same interview, the young QB expressed admiration for Brady’s mental approach to the game and his ability to extend his career through discipline and strategy.
“Tom Brady. Yeah? Yeah. I’m able to see what he has done and mentally how he was able to beat people with his mind. Physically, that’s why he was able to play as long as he did,” Sanders said.
“I see what he’s doing. Okay, I add this, this, and this to my game, and that’s why I know I’m not at my best yet. I’m nowhere near where I need to be, where I want to be, or where I desire to be because there are certain things you have to work on in the offseason. You have to grow, and you have to be able to indulge in one step at a time.”
Brady worked his way into the early 40s. The seven-time Super Bowl champion was 43 when he helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the Lombardi Trophy in 2021 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Shedeur is projected to go to the Las Vegas Raiders at sixth overall among many mock drafts. Brady has minority ownership with the Raiders and could make the call on whether to draft Sanders or not in April.
