Top 5 Free Agent NFL Kickers: Younghoe Koo, Greg Joseph, Justin Tucker Among Best Available Options

A few NFL teams might be in the market for a new kicker in the coming weeks. Which kickers are still available in free agency?

The kicker carousel in the NFL started to spin several weeks ago. The San Francisco 49ers dumped kicker Jake Moody earlier in the season after he missed a short-range field goal and had one blocked in the team’s 17-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Moody was a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the 49ers, but he never lived up to the team’s expectations. While the 49ers may have solved their kicker issue, several other teams could be looking to upgrade in the coming days or weeks. So who are the top free agent kickers currently on the market?

What Kickers Are NFL Free Agents Right Now?

Younghoe Koo

After seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, Younghoe Koo was released by the franchise in September. He then signed with the New York Giants and kicked in five games for them. Unfortunately, the Giants also waived him this past week.

Koo made only 66.7% of his field goal attempts with the Giants and is now looking for a new team. He is 31 years old and has already earned $22,563,967 in his career. However, if a team is looking for a kicker at this point in the season, Koo could still be a valuable addition.

Greg Joseph

Another free agent option is Greg Joseph, who has suited up for the Cleveland Browns, Titans, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and New York Jets. In 75 career games, he’s converted 116 of 141 field goals and 157 of 163 PATs.

Last season, split between the Giants, Commanders, and Jets, Joseph went 16-of-20 on field goals with a long of 52 yards. There was speculation he could replace Jake Moody with the 49ers, but the team ultimately chose Eddy Piñeiro instead.

Justin Tucker

Justin Tucker was a scoring machine during his tenure with the Baltimore Ravens. He had played his entire 13-year career for the Ravens, making 417 out of 468 field goals.

Tucker was a five-time All-Pro with Baltimore, but was replaced entering this season by Tyler Loop, whom the Ravens drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Tucker set the all-time NFL record in field goal length with a 66-yard blast. But Tucker was let go by the Ravens in May 2025 after the NFL opened an investigation into allegations that Tucker was reportedly engaged in sexual behavior with massage therapists in the Baltimore area.

The NFL suspended Tucker for the first 10 games of the 2025 season. He is now eligible to play in the league and recently had a workout with the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, the NFC South franchise instead signed Charlie Smyth.

Given the allegations, many teams will likely steer clear, but he remains one of the top free agent kickers available, hence his place on this list.

Austin Seibert

Austin Seibert last kicked for the Commanders last season, but he’s on the market right now. Besides Washington, Seibert has kicked for the Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Lions, and Jets.

In his six-season NFL career, Seibert has made 72 of 86 field goal attempts with his longest kick being at 55 yards.

Dustin Hopkins

Dustin Hopkins is one of the most experienced NFL kickers currently without a team. He last kicked for the Browns over two seasons but wasn’t brought back this year.

Before his time in Cleveland, Hopkins spent six-plus seasons with the Commanders and a little over a year with the Chargers. He’s made 241 of 287 career field goals, with a long of 58 yards for the Browns in 2023.

Given his experience, any contender chasing a division title could take a look at him.

It will be interesting to see how kickers fare heading into Week 16 of the 2025 season. Kyle Shanahan had little patience with Jake Moody after his Week 1 misses, and other coaches have also parted ways with several kickers this season. We might see more players on the move before the start of the playoffs.
