With various sports for people to consume, they can coexist peacefully at times. However, drama does brew. Some recent stuff went down between some NFL and WWE icons, so how did all this happen?
The NFL and WWE Beef, Ft. Tom Brady and Logan Paul
Fanatics is one of the biggest companies in the sports industry when it comes to the fan experience. Since they are so big, they are hosting a flag football game on March 21st, with NFL Legend Tom Brady and entertainer and entrepreneur Logan Paul serving as captains. The event will feature standout NFL players, including Saquon Barkley and Justin Jefferson.
While previewing the event, Brady said that he is worried for Paul. Brady stated that Paul is a great athlete; however, not at the level of other NFL athletes. Paul has some experience in the WWE, which Brady said is cute, but Brady’s point was that NFL players are amazing athletes at another level.
Paul took offense to this and rebutted, saying that he is on a higher level than the NFL. He claimed that some of the athletic feats that he has done, such as doing a flip off the top rope. Paul then brought up his high school stats to prove he is an excellent athlete.
This ignited tension, as before, the talk between Brady and Paul had seemed pretty smooth. On social media, the reactions were interesting. Some said it was silly for Paul, who has never played in the NFL, to claim he is better than some of the NFL’s best athletes.
The social media of it all got more interesting as Brady took to Twitter. He posted the interview clip of Brady telling Paul his concerns with the caption of “I do think @loganpaul has the right attitude and the effort will be there. How far that gets him will remain to be seen.”
This all happened in early to mid-February. Then, in March, in a video, Paul said he could beat any NFL player in a fight. His co-host said that they would beat him, but Paul denied that.
He said that he could beat any NFL player, from the physically impressive DK Metcalf to the defensive player of the year, Myles Garrett. Paul was so confident in that claim that he put $ 1,000,000 on the line for a fight. While Paul can be comedic, he seemed very serious with this statement.
To quote Paul hinself posted: “My $1,000,000 open bet to fight NFL players has caused an uproar.” After violating the guidelines, former Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl Running Back Le’Veon Bell agreed to a fight.
With the fight being Logan Paul vs Le’Veon Bell, Brady put it in a tweet reacting to the fight card. The caption Brady said is “Is this my fault?” Basically, this means that if Brady had never said Paul is a lower-level athlete than NFL players, this fight between Bell and Paul would never have happened.
In conclusion, it will be interesting to see the outcome of this fight. Does Paul back up his words, or does Bell come out victorious? Whatever happens, it just goes to show how interesting things can get in the sports and social media world.
