Tom Brady Honors Cancer Survivor Mom With Emotional Birthday Post
During Brady’s NFL career, what stood out the most was his resilience and how he used every process to his advantage. Without taking shortcuts or faltering in critical moments, Brady built the most incredible legacy of any NFL player. Much of that comes from how he was raised.
On Instagram, the former quarterback and now minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders shared a heartfelt message in honor of his mother’s birthday. He expressed his deep affection for Galynn in a carousel of photos showing him with his parents, his mother with his son Benjamin, and his parents on his wedding day.

“This is one of the most important birthdays today! Happy Birthday, Mom. Thank you for being someone our family could always count on. Your strength and determination and love and selflessness knows no bounds. We are so lucky to have a mom that leads by example,” Brady wrote.
Galynn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and underwent five months of chemotherapy. However, she recovered in time to watch her son lead the most remarkable comeback in Super Bowl history against the Atlanta Falcons in February 2017. Her battle with cancer was a significant motivation for Brady, who had an outstanding season that year.
“Today we celebrate not just everything you’ve done, but also the incredible person you are. We love you so much, and we’re beyond grateful for every moment we get to share with you. Happy Birthday! And happy birthday to America! Everyone have a great 4th of July,” Brady added.
How San Mateo Childhood and 49ers Games Shaped Brady’s Championship Mindset
Brady’s parents live in San Mateo, where they raised their children and inspired his love for the NFL. They took him to San Francisco 49ers games during the franchise’s golden era in the 1980s. This early exposure to professional football helped shape the future quarterback’s passion for the game.
Brady was with his father at the 1981 NFC Championship Game when Joe Montana found Dwight Clark in the back of the end zone to send the 49ers to their first Super Bowl. The play became one of the greatest moments in NFL history and left a lasting impression on the young Brady.
The influence of his parents shaped the greatest player of all time. Having their support while growing up and role models who helped form his character, Brady’s tribute to his mother is another way of giving back the love he’s always received from his parents. The values they instilled in him during his childhood in San Mateo became the foundation for his record-breaking career and seven Super Bowl championships.
