Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward had a challenging rookie season as the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. Heading into his sophomore year, the Tennessee front office is expected to prioritize getting weapons around Ward to improve in any significant way.
Tennessee Titans Floated as Landing Spot for 10‑TD ‘Slot Weapon’ in Free Agency
To say the Titans’ receiving corps underwhelmed in 2025 is an understatement. The leading pass catcher was tight end Chig Okonkwo (560 yards, 2 touchdowns), with receiver Eric Ayomanor second on the team with just 515 yards and four touchdowns. There is a glaring need for leadership and production in the position room.
CBS Sports writer Jared Dubin linked one upcoming free agent with a team that matched that player. For the Titans, he saw former New York Giants receiver Wan’Dale Robinson fitting that role perfectly for the squad.
“Tennessee had one of the weakest pass-catching corps in the NFL this past season. The Titans need to give Cam Ward more to work with, and Robinson could give him a slot weapon with some explosiveness — like what he had at Miami in Xavier Restrepo, but in the form of a guy who doesn’t run a 4.8-second 40-yard dash,” Dubin wrote.
Robinson has displayed what is highly sought after in the NFL: a young receiver who has gotten consistently better with every year in the league. As a rookie in 2022, he caught 23 passes for 227 yards and 1 touchdown. His second season became a 525-yard campaign (1 touchdown), and he continued to grow in 2024 with 699 yards and a career-high 3 touchdowns.
2025 was where Robinson made a name for himself, and it’s a big reason why Dubin envisioned him teaming up with Ward in 2026. In his fourth year with the Giants, Robinson had career highs in receptions (93), yards (1,014), and touchdowns (4). Considering the pressure on him to produce after Malik Nabers went down for the season, the results speak for themselves.
Another connection that Dubin considered a positive was that Robinson played every season of his career with Brian Daboll as his head coach. With Daboll brought in by the Titans as the new offensive coordinator for 2026, it would increase the odds of Robinson hitting the ground running.
The question is whether the Giants will outbid other teams for his services in free agency. Robinson expressed his take on the situation when asked about it in January: “Depending on who we hire, if they want me back. Love playing with Jaxson, love playing with these guys that are here. I would love to stay.” Will Harbaugh be enough to impact his decision?
If it comes down to a bidding war, will the Titans have seen enough from the outside to pay what Robinson will command? Spotrac estimates it at $17.6 million in annual salary. With Nabers working to return at full strength in 2026, Robinson may have outgrown New York. If Tennessee does want his talents, they will have to compensate him for those expectations.
