As we inch toward the new season, the ever-changing NFL landscape has player fantasy values constantly on the move. Whether you’re used to the dynasty platform or are still learning the dynasty rules, let’s dive into the latest dynasty value of Tim Patrick.
Tim Patrick’s Dynasty Outlook and Value
Part of why we know KJ Hamler isn’t relevant is because he was easily surpassed on the depth chart by 2017 UDFA Patrick.
Patrick didn’t even play as a rookie. He was on and off the Denver Broncos‘ practice squad, not getting his first real chance until 2018. Over his first two seasons, Patrick barely saw the field, totaling just 39 receptions in 17 games.

Then, in 2020, he took a massive leap forward. His 2020 and 2021 campaigns were very similar. He posted lines of 51-742-6 and 53-734-5 and averaged roughly 10 ppg in each season.
Patrick’s performance in 2021 earned him a three-year, $34 million contract extension. That, more than anything, signified a commitment to Patrick as an important piece of Denver’s offense.
Tim Patrick’s Fantasy Ranking
Patrick was a popular sleeper pick heading into 2022 fantasy drafts. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL before the season ever began. The problem now is that he’s already 29 years old and may not be back to 100% until the middle of the season. The Broncos could release him next year with just a $2.3 million dead cap hit.
UDFAs are always fighting an uphill battle. Even after they’ve seemingly established themselves as quality players, the stigma never goes away. Patrick may very well have missed his window of opportunity. He was already a speculative value heading into last season. Now, it seems doubtful he’ll ever be more than a fantasy WR4/5.
Patrick should remain on fantasy rosters for now. But it wouldn’t surprise me to see him dropped en masse at some point during the 2023 season.
We currently have him at WR83 (No. 222 overall) in our dynasty Superflex rankings. There’s a chance he’s not even on rosters in your league. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t mind taking a shot on Patrick for free. But I wouldn’t necessarily eye him up in dynasty startup drafts.
