‘What a F***ing Joke’ — Texans Fans Furious With Refs After Controversial Missed Call on Bucs’ TD

A blatant missed call on the Emeka Egbuka touchdown gave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the lead, leaving Houston Texans fans angry.

The Houston Texans’ first home opener to take place on a Monday Night Football slate in franchise history has had all the fireworks worthy of such an honor. With both offenses scoring on their first two possessions, the score quickly ratcheted up to 14-10 in favor of the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However, the second touchdown from the Bucs did not land well with the Texans’ fan base. With a potential false start and a blatant tripping penalty going uncalled by the officials, fans quickly turned to social media to showcase their vitriol at the officiating, as it gave Tampa Bay a lead early in the second quarter.

Texans Fans Call Out Blatant Missed Tripping Call on Buccaneers Touchdown

In the red zone already, the Buccaneers were hoping to get into the end zone to register their second touchdown of the night and take a lead over the home team. A short pass to rookie sensation Emeka Egbuka paved the way for a 15-yard touchdown.

However, the third touchdown of his NFL career saw the star wide receiver receive assistance from blockers to hold off any run-breaking tackles. On one of those was an attempt by offensive lineman Charlie Heck, who tried to stop Kamari Lassiter.

Unfortunately, the play clearly looked like a tripping penalty that went uncalled, as the announcers on the live broadcast confirmed. Instead, Tampa Bay took the lead, and fans in Houston were left fuming over the outcome.

One fan put the blame firmly on the league itself, stating, “A missed tripping call against Buccaneers great job like always NFLOfficiating.” Others believed the fix was already in against their team, as they saw calls favoring one team in particular.

“Missed tripping call on @Buccaneers, but they called every lil bullsh*t flag on Houston Texans. 2 terrible flags that shouldn’t have been called. What a f***ing joke @NFL rigged agendas.”

The anger was justifiable as the penalty in question was clear as day to see. As a result, one fan sarcastically posed the question, “Tripping a defender in front of 3 officials and no ref throwing a flag on the play is a really, really bad miss. What are they looking at?”

Some fans even brought video proof to prove their point, plainly stating, “Bad missed tripping call on the Emeka Egbuka TD.” However, for most of the fan base, there was a clear flavor to the referee’s decision-making.

As one fan wrote, “Add a missed tripping call to the list…Bucs gettin breaks early,” another pointed to back-to-back penalties by the Buccaneers that didn’t draw a flag. “Questionable illegal use of hands on Stingley that drive, and then a missed tripping call.”

Another fan went the sarcastic route, as they threw out the question, “Was replay asleep or they dont work Mondays?” as no change was made even after the announcers in the booth could see the infraction clear as day.

In a game that has started off as a high-scoring slugfest, there is every possibility that the Texans can get those points back in short order. But if the result swings in favor of Tampa Bay, especially by a short margin, it might further draw the ire from Houston.
