‘America, We Have a Problem’ — NFL Legend Terrell Owens Calls for Justice From President Donald Trump in Nolan Wells Case

Former NFL receiver Terrell Owens says it's time for Donald Trump to serve some justice in the Nolan Wells case.

During his NFL heyday, there were few wide receivers who were better than Terrell Owens. Of course, if you asked him, he’d likely tell you he was the best. That’s because most of the time the Hall of Fame playmaker took the field, he was the best in sight.

But now Owens’ playing days are long gone. Owens hasn’t played an NFL snap since the end of the 2010 season, when the then-37-year-old still recorded 983 yards and 9 touchdowns with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Nowadays, Owens isn’t heard from nearly as often. But once in a while, something he’s truly passionate about forces him to speak up.

Terrell Owens Calls for Donald Trump to Take Action in Nolan Wells Case

One item that’s grabbed hold of the world’s attention, including Owens, is the Nolan Wells case.

For those who aren’t familiar, Wells was an 18-year-old man from Mississippi whose body was found in the water back on July 6, two days after he was reported missing following a boating trip with friends.

Nearly two weeks later, few answers have been provided since his death.

Now, Owens is one of the many outspoken voices calling for action. He’s going all the way to the top, to President Donald Trump. Owens argues that if Trump was able to recently take action to help the US soccer team overturn Folarin Balogun’s red card in the World Cup, then the president can push some buttons and get Wells’ family some answers, too.

“I honestly don’t know where to begin, but America, we have a problem,” Owens said. “I’ll say this. How many times are we going to just get up and think that a day is going to be normal? A weekend is going to be normal. A holiday is going to be normal. We’re waking up to tragedy. I can’t sit back and be quiet. No more.”

That’s when Owens called upon Trump to use his presidential powers to intervene, hoping he could be the one to bring a solution.

“Donald J. Trump, I’ll say this,” Owens added. “I’m gonna challenge you to do something in this situation where you should be intervening, and that’s in this Nolan Wells case. I just saw you intervene at a soccer match. Throwing your weight around as a president. You should be calling. You should be making the call right now.”

Owens ends by making one last plea to the acting president, hoping he can be the one who brings some justice to the situation.

“The parents, the friends, the loved ones, they need answers,” Owens stated. “The justice system is failing us. Just speaking from the heart… At the end of the day, Nolan Wells, he’s not with us today, and he needs justice, his family needs justice. Donald J. Trump, I need you to intervene.”

That’s a powerful message from an all-time great. Trump, who has tried to purchase multiple NFL teams over the years, definitely knows who Owens is. Maybe a voice like his can help spur action from the Oval Office. Because, as Owens says, the Wells family deserves answers.
