During the match, the Kazakh seemed to be bothered by a spectator and even asked to have the individual taken out of the court.
”Can you take him out? I’m not gonna continue to play until he leaves, these people are dangerous,” Putintseva was quoted as saying to the chair umpire.

Putintseva is bound to suffer a drop in the WTA rankings as she produced her best performance at Wimbledon last year by reaching the fourth round. The 30-year-old now has three first-round exits from her last four appearances at the grass-court Major.
Yulia Putintseva was Involved in a Moment of Controversy Before Wimbledon
Yulia Putintseva has often had controversial moments and was involved in one at the Bad Homburg Open. The Kazakh lost 5-7, 6-7(6) to Maria Sakkari in the first round, and the Greek was not pleased with how Putintseva shook her hand during their post-match handshake.
Sakkari was heard saying: “When you shake hands with someone, look them in the eyes.”
Yulia Putintseva’s Wimbledon exit takes her win-loss tally in 2025 to a disappointing 13-17. The 30-year-old’s best performance so far this season has been reaching the semifinals of the Adelaide International. She also reached the third round of the Australian Open and the French Open.
