Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz Return at Indian Wells After Dubai Break

Alcaraz and Sinner will both be back in action next week as the Sunshine Swing gets underway with the BNP Paribas Open. The hardcourt tournament will take place at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, and it will be the first ATP Masters 1000 event of the year.

Scheduled to take place from March 4 to 15, the BNP Paribas Open will feature the biggest tennis stars in the world. In addition to Alcaraz and Sinner, the field also includes Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Ben Shelton, among others.

Jack Draper is the reigning champion, while Alcaraz has won in California twice (2023, 2024). Sinner, meanwhile, will hope to win the tournament for the first time.

The tennis action will then head to the Hard Rock Stadium for the Miami Open. Scheduled to take place from March 18 to 29, this ATP Masters 1000 tournament will also feature the best players in the world.

Sinner and Alcaraz have both previously triumphed in Miami, with the Italian coming out on top in 2024 and the Spaniard winning in 2022. Jakub Menšík is the reigning Miami Open champion.

Alcaraz and Sinner’s Results So Far This Season

Both Alcaraz and Sinner have competed in two tournaments since the turn of the year. The two top-ranked men’s singles players have had contrasting fortunes so far.

Alcaraz has won both tournaments, while Sinner is still looking to make his first final of the year. The former started his year by winning the Australian Open, his seventh Grand Slam title. It also helped him complete the career Grand Slam, making him the youngest male to do so.

Despite dominating in the early rounds of the Australian Open, Sinner was eliminated by Djokovic in a tightly contested semifinal that lasted five sets.

Alcaraz and Sinner then competed at the 2026 Qatar Open. And again, it was Alcaraz who triumphed. The 22-year-old cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Arthur Fils in the final.

Sinner was stunned by Menšík in the quarterfinals of the Qatar Open, falling to a (3)6-7, 6-2, 6-3 defeat. The 24-year-old will hope to reach his first final of the year during the Sunshine Swing.
